This review is specifically for the Streetfest and not the Beaches International Jazz Festival as a whole. Streetfest is probably one of the bigger and also one of the better street festivals that the city of Toronto has to offer in the summer. It usually runs on Queen St. East from Woodbine Ave to Beech Ave. Here are the reasons why it’s such a great festival and getting more popular each year. Food: Quite a few restaurants have food stands set up outside and Streetfest allows food trucks which results in shorter lineups when your looking to grab a bite to eat. This is great because at any festival you shouldn’t be spending most of your time waiting in line for food. Music: There are numerous live music acts to entertain festival goers. If you don’t like one music group, you can walk a few minutes east or west and there will be another group performing. Also there is a good variety ranging from Big Band, Swing, Dixieland, Smooth, Post-Bop, Afro-Cuban, Fusion, Funk, R&B and Soul sounds. Location: The Beaches is the perfect location for Streetfest and the Beaches International Jazz Festival. The festival is not on the subway line but there are numerous buses running to accommodate festival goers. Miscellaneous: The only negative thing I could really say about Streetfest is that it’s getting quite popular resulting in a lot of people attending and they really need to have more portable washrooms for people to use. Overall like I mentioned earlier, it’s one of the better festivals that the city of Toronto offers in the summer. It’s great for people of all ages. I saw teenagers, some seniors, families and couples attending.
