Sensei Bell is wonderful with kids and parents alike. His classes are fun and I feel great every time I finish a class. The studio is bright and clean, Tristan is a stand-up guy and a great teacher. 100% recommend for newbies(me) and pros(you if you go here)

I put a deposit down on a membership and tried the one class. He neglected to tell me at the time he would not honour my previous belt class even though I had taken the exam and had my certificate. I found the owner dishonourable. The trial class I took was OK, I found other senseis I have taken lessons from much more knowledgeable and helpful. Due to family circumstances I had to leave the area shortly after my trial class. The Sensi was very rude and refused to refund me my deposit. He stole from me at a very hard time in my life. There are many other dojos in the area and I would recommend any of them above this place. I would not want my children being taught by someone who steals and lies.

Sensei Bell has so many years of teaching karate under his belt. I think he’s been teaching it at the dojo where he learned karate since he was at least 16 years old(over 10 years ago now). Even before that, when we were both kids growing up, he used to explain every move to me, then demonstrate it for me with precision, and deep concentration. He is EXCELLENT with children — very attentive, straightforward, compassionate, and easy to understand and speak to. I remember attending his first Black Belt grading, when he was only 16 years old. He passed on his first try. If you’re looking for an excellent local dojo on Danforth East with an experienced, passionate Sensei, definitely check out Bell’s Martial Arts. You will NOT be disappointed.
