Didn’t even know there was such a nice café hidden upstairs! I ordered the scone and the mactha late, it was simple and delicious. Not overly crowded like Starbucks, definitely would come back again(:

I got the«Black Widow» latte(Raspberry flavored) on my first visit to this place. Unfortunately I couldn’t taste the raspberry, latte was ok, however someone told me next time I can double syrup so I will definitely come back to try that!

On the first floor of the comic book store Silver Snail with big panoramic Windows to sit at and look out on busy Younge street, the black Canary coffee shop is a quiet heaven in this busy area. Seriously good coffee here, also baked goods that look great although I did not try them. People are friendly, there are city magazines to read and a big map of Middle Earth hangs from the wall. I like it here, it’s open pretty early also compared to the places around. I ll be back for sure!

Legit Esspresso Bar tucked upstairs in a corner of a pretty cool comic shop. I enjoyed a well made Black Canary which is their version of a caramel mocha latte. The hubs drank down the Donkey Kong which is a coconut mocha. It smelled amazing and tasted like a melted mounds bar… yum! My son who will never pass up a hot chocolate when offered, enjoyed a Nutella Hot chocolate… I am unable to comment on how it tasted because he sucked it down before I had a chance to get a sip. I love stumbling upon these hidden treasures in the city. Cheers!

Great coffee and super friendly staff. Feels like a hidden place as it’s up the stairs from busy Yonge St, yet surprisingly very quiet up here. It’s attached to the comic book store the Silver Snail, so is superhero themed all over, even with signature drinks named after Heroes and Villains. Definitely a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Yonge and Dundas for a while.

If you’re a coffee snob, you’ll love their espresso based drinks. I haven’t found a better espresso in Toronto. Mac, Stefan and the crew are all top-notch baristas who are passionate about coffee. Although I’ve heard great things about all their drinks, I tend to stick to the fundamentals: Cappuccino, Flat White and my favourite… the Cortado!

A little café tucked inside of the Silver Snail comic store. The gentleman who served us was very charismatic and excited about coffee. He made us laugh and made excellent coffee. This place is very much living up to the good reputation it holds.

Nice, quaint little café inside of the Silver Snail comic book store. I was browsing the Ritual app, and found Black Canary on there. I ordered a mocha, and it was ready when I got there — with my name on the cup. It’s worth noting that I had difficulty finding this place, as it is located on the upper level, which you have to access through a small, discrete stairway along yonge — right beside David’s Tea. There were a few tables for seating, and so I sat down and studied there. The café had nice comic book, nerdy vibes, which helped me get into nerd mode for studying. I will def be back! Use my Ritual referral code to get $ 10.00 to use here or elsewhere :) JOSHUA9247

Like everyone else says this is a hidden gem looking over Yonge St. I love the quiet haven in the middle of all the crowd and noise. The matcha latte is the best I’ve had in terms of the potency of the flavor. Boyfriend had the espresso and he was very satisfied.

A quaint spot in the heart of Yonge and Dundas. Located on the second floor along with the Silver Snail, this spot is ideal for a cup of tea/coffee and some reading, away from the city bustle. I thoroughly enjoyed the location and ambience over their actual snack/beverage offering. They have a small but catered menu of beverages, the chai latte and matcha latte were pretty good. Their items include comic themed creations, which seemed interesting, but we did not give them a try as of yet.

If you are the person who enjoys discovering cafes reserved only for the most curious of Java lovers — this café is for you. It’s really easy to miss the entrance and staircase taking you to this café that nests on the 2nd floor along Yonge. Black Canary shares its space with Silver Snail Comics so it’s got it’s own unique flavor and what’s great is that it’s not flooded with a tourists pouring from Dundas Square to take pictures with the café’s very own 3D Map of Middle Earth(geek alert!) which is absolutely incredible and accurate. They have a nice big window that overviews busy Yonge St. and because the café is located above ground you feel separated from the buzz on the street and will be able to keep a focus on work. We ordered a grapefruit Italian Soda and it was made fresh on the spot, had the perfect amount of sweetness and fizziness. Overall we had a very fun and productive experience. How could we not? — Batman was watching us up and close the whole time…(visit and you’ll know what we mean)

Are you a matcha latte fan? Look no further — this place does NOT skimp on their matcha powder. Come here to satisfy your matcha craving! It will not taste like a matcha flavoured milk, but a milk flavoured matcha tea.

Hidden gem coffee shop up the stairs between the Five Guys and David’s Tea. I walked around the block twice and asked a Ryerson U student who was certain there were no coffee shop here. The Nutellalatte is delicious. Not overly sweet like Starbucks drinks and leaves a nice hazelnut aftertaste. Nicely executed, best idea ever.

Love this place! It’s a hidden gem because its on the second floor of the space between HMV& Five Guys(you go up the stairs). Super cool comic book superhero bookstore cozy café environment. It has a relaxing(and nerdy) ambience, in a good way. Service is excellent! The barista is so friendly and makes the food/drinks with so much care, and makes conversation with customers. Their latte art is amazing btw.

A little hard to find but a great spot! I got a cortado and a drip coffee, both of which were great and pretty cheap. There’s not a lot of seating but it wasn’t crowded when I went(perhaps because its hard to find). Great place to sit down and study for as long as you need. Will be back.

This place is hard to find! It’s located in a comic book star and all your favourite superheroes can chill with you while you get your coffee on! Stopped in after seeing the reviews on Unilocal and I was in the area. Grabbed myself a breakfast cookie and a coffee and they were both delicious. It was quiet when I was in there on a early Saturday morning but I am certain it got much busier as the coffee is really good.

The most non pretentious and coolest little café in my neighbourhood. The drinks are made with much care and are excellent. The other day I had the onion and cheddar scone and the barista offered to butter and toast it for me. It was really good! ;) I am not a comic book collector, but I feel very welcomed here. There is no ‘hipster’ vibe like at other cafes in the downtown core. Customers are a mix of comic book fans and all kinds of people. If you sit near the window, there is a really nice view of Yonge and Dundas.

This place is pretty neat. It’s very hidden(located inside a comic store). I had to walk around twice to find the place. The coffee is pretty decent as the quality is equivalent to that of Crema or Balzac’s but what really puts this place above and beyond is the atmosphere. There are life sized superhero statues such as Batman and Spiderman and you have a great view of Yonge St. from above. Overall, a great place for a coffee after chilling at Yonge/Dundas Square or shopping at Eaton Centre.

With all the coffee shops in Toronto it’s hard to say what’s the best one. The Black Canary is definitely up there! My favourite is the nutellaccino but their other signature lattes are a must try like the stay puff. If the coffee doesn’t bring u back here or the fact that’s its in a comic store, then the staff will. Luthie and her staff are awesome!

A TRUELYHIDDEN place, it’s northeast of Yonge/Dundas intersection. Walk north until you see a blue sign. LOOKUP When you finally notice the small sign, the shop(espresso bar) is upstairs. And it’s beautiful. You are greeted with shelves and shelves of neatly organized comic books, toys, and BLINDBOXES. I LOOOOOVEBLINDBOXES.(My review on this is to be continued in Unilocal location: «Silver Snail Comic» 329 Yonge) Okay, turn away. Walk to your left, and HEREITIS: The Black Canary Espresso Bar. You’ll find little Black Canary figurines on the counter(she’s an amazing gal). Find attached my photos of their drinks menu! They’re really just ordinary drinks, priced at premium, SOMEWITHFUNNAMES: — Yoda Soda — Mr. Freeze — Captain Americano After you order, you can have a seat and enjoy your beverage next to the life-size Spiderman and Batman. LOTSOFFUN, RIGHT? This will not be my regular coffee/tea shop but I enjoyed my stay. Also it’s a terrible date place because it’s seeewwwwwww quiet… I guess we should have just stared at each other.
