Went here for a NXNE event that was still going strong past midnight. Cover was $ 10 and paid when a man sitting a table beside the door called out to you as you walk by him. Not your fault, he looks like a regular patron! Also, what’s with no one checking the ticket upon entry? Went for a Millstreet Organic to go along with the show(got carded, blah) and service was pretty prompt. The beer selection looked small, about 6 different types, but no matter for a girl like me. The concert space itself was a good size and very versatile with movable chairs and tables, etc. I kind of wish they weren’t there because the band was very danceable, yet no one would/could dance. The chair-table set up was pretty messy too. Anywho, this is just one event! Bread & Circus has lots of cool stuff going on all the time and I’d gladly come back from some more.

for some reason, i always call this place the beach and castle. it took me sooo long to remember what it was actually called that my brain hurts. i’ve seen a couple of shows here and it’s been fun. the back room gets filled up with energy and people who are there purely there for the music. or in some cases i think they have comedy shows and other things too. i think the drinks are over priced. but i think that about a lot of places. it’s not the cleanest place in the world but that doesn’t really matter if you’re there to get all sweaty and dirty. overall it’s a good venue.

I and 4 friends went there first time to see«8 girls without boyfriends» the other day. The venue feels like an indie place infiltrated by raw and genuine culture where new acts come to life driven by pure passion. I should put a disclaimer here — I’m not a big fan of mainstream commercial culture, I get my fix in emerging acts that have just found their voice — not infantile anymore and not yet spoiled by commercial success. This place seems to exude just the right vibe. Nice cozy theatre, good bar(well, Patron was a little pricey but I didn’t really mind). It could use an air conditioner on hot summer nights — personally I don’t mind a little sweat, but my friends(all ladies) complained. Definitely planning to go there again soon.

I love this place because there’s always a fresh new reason to go there! They feature theatre, live music/concerts/CD releases, comedy, fundraisers & events, etc. It’s available for anyone to book/rent. Great things I’ve seen here: 1. Morris Panych’s great play«Lawrence & Holloman» 2. Matthew Campbell( ) 3. Ben Birchard 4. The Human Statues( ) It has a great vibe and of course, the location ROCKS. It loses a star because of its size! It’s too small! And because of its lack of good drinks(i.e. martinis) available at the bar.
