History

Established in 2012.

Around 2010, Camp Tech’s founder, Avery Swartz, noticed a digital shift in how organizations were expected to behave. Previously, a website was enough, but now, businesses are expected to have a website, a blog, an active e-​mail newsletter, and a thriving social media presence. That’s a lot for small organizations to manage, and her web design clients started asking her how they could learn more about these topics.

There were many places that offered online tech skills training but there wasn’t an in-​person option where her Toronto clients could learn the skills they needed. So, like many entrepreneurs, she saw a need and decided to offer a solution to fulfill that need.

Avery Swartz is a Toronto-​based award-​winning web designer, consultant, speaker, and tech skills instructor. A self-​described design geek, she helps demystify the web for small business owners, charities, and arts organizations. Avery offers a friendly and casual approach with all her projects.

In addition to her web design work, Avery is the founder and CEO of Camp Tech.
