History
Established in 2001.
Canoe Toronto has been operating since the summer of 2001. The idea to provide tours by big Voyageur Canoes was born from the passion for paddling in Toronto Islands’ lagoons and the city’s harbour. While canoeing comes naturally to Canadian people, the growing number of tourists who visit Toronto are, at times, intimidated by a slim tippy boat that that they usually see for the first time in their lives, when they arrive in Canada. Hence, was the idea to offer a stable boat that is maneuvered by a skilled guide, while the paddlers could be first timers and unexperienced. Manufactured for recreational purposes, Voyageur Canoe replicas offer not only stability and the piece of mind, but a glimpse into the important part of the Canadian history. These boats, used in North American Fur Trade, played an important part in mapping the Canadian territory.
