History

Established in 2004.

Capocaccia opened its doors with humble beginnings. Capocaccia Café and Bakery as it was called in its inception, was the brain child of Salvatore Mele. Having run a successful bakery in Woodbridge with his sisters Daniela and Julia, Sal had the bug for a new venture! The plan was simple, take the bakery model and duplicate it in Toronto.

In June of 2004, Capocaccia opened its doors offering the neighborhood a wide variety of desserts, coffee, hot table lunch, Italian Panino sandwiches, and thin crusted wood burning Italian pizza.

Within 3 months, the café was almost always over capacity! So in the summer of 2005, plans begun to take over the unit next door. January 2006 marked the evolution of Capocaccia. The restaurant expanded from 35 seats to 90 seats including the newly renovated and expanded marble bar which stylishly extends into both rooms. Not to mention the 20 seat covered street side patio which adorns the restaurants south side over looking Balmoral Avenue.
