As a disclaimer, my trip to Char No. 5 was not a typical visit. I was in a wedding gown with my wedding party in tow, having just married the man I love. We had just finished our formal portraits on the outdoor patio at the Delta Hotel, and wanted to do something a little unique and fun while we had some extra time. We sidled up to the bar, and were warmly welcomed by the stylishly dressed bartenders, who were totally cool with us taking a few casual shots at the bar, despite it being a Saturday. We ordered drinks(because why not?), two of us opting for their take on the whiskey sour, and two opting for the«Toronto.» The drinks were expertly crafted, the flavours were well balanced, and my whiskey sour was one of the best whiskey cocktails I have ever drank(if not the best). Running at $ 18 it was certainly pricey for a drink, but it packed a serious punch and was designed to be sipped and savoured, not gulped with gusto. After enjoying our beverages, we settled our bill and departed to continue our photo adventure and, you know, enjoy the rest of our wedding. The day was an absolute blur of happy memories, so it speaks to the quality of the bar that it left such a positive impression. I don’t have all the photos back yet, but I have no doubt that the soft, relaxed atmosphere of Char No. 5 will have provided the perfect setting for some unique, cool, and fun photos of our big day. The fact that the drinks were so spectacular was just a happy bonus.
