This is the real deal! After the previous Columbian restaurant located here, Los Perros, closed after a short run, Columbus Express has moved in. The menu appears to be very similar, in that it emulates Columbian street and comfort food close to what you would find in South America. All kinds and varieties of tapas style dumplings and deep fried goodies are not only on the menu, but are made fresh and now on display under a glass display case. I asked about what I should try and then I had a mouth watering tour of the crispy on the outside, soft and savoury on the inside delectable snacks that ALL go with their incredible, fabulous, or whatever adjective you’d like to include, hot sauce. In my brief visit I grabbed one of the ‘beef balls’ and it came with a small container of hot sauce to go, with a price of $ 2. Unbelievable, is what I can describe the dumpling as being, with it’s crusty yet delicate fried outside, along with a delicious potato filling flecked with bits of beef, and with a perfectly fried coating of cheese at the top. Wow, now I want more! Grabbing this snack to go, I couldn’t help but stop up the street and snack out with their beautifully rosé coloured hot sauce which I ended up drinking the last bit from the container with a frustrating Aesop’s Fables problem getting that last little bit on my tongue. I told them that I would add them to Unilocal and help them to promote their great style of snacks, which I’m proud to do. Go Columbus!
