I needed to do some grocery shopping on a Saturday afternoon, but wanted to find a place to grab lunch before doing so. I thought it was a great opportunity to try out the restaurant at Longos. To be honest, I didn’t know the restaurant was called Corks until I got there. It’s a little discreet and they don’t exactly market it heavily throughout the store. Either that or I just never noticed. Corks has a simple menu with appetizers($ 5), salads($ 8), pizzas($ 8) and sandwiches($ 10). They have a fairly wide variety of pizzas and sandwiches. Everything is made fresh and on the spot. You can definitely tell the meals are made fresh. If you don’t believe me, just peer over the balcony and watch them make it in the kitchen. The wait time was short, comparable to any restaurant. The service was outstanding, and they made a strong effort to promote the local wines/beers on their menu. They even offered a healthy sample of the beers, and by healthy I mean we sampled all their beers(for free). We ended up ordering the Denisons Dunkel, which was great. The beers were $ 4 for 12 oz, and $ 6 for 20 oz. I ordered the hamburger, which was average-sized, with a generous serving of steamed vegetables on the side. They served it with chips. You can get the sandwiches with either pasta, mixed greens or steamed vegetables. You can also order from the kitchen downstairs and bring your food up to the restaurant. I noticed a majority of the customers were dads with their kids, presumably waiting for their wives to finish shopping. I would definitely come back to Corks. The ambiance is great, and the service was very friendly and prompt.
