Lack of transparency around price.
I brought my dog in to shave his winter coat down. I asked about price and was told big dogs were around $ 115. My dog was smaller so I figured ~ $ 100 would be an expensive but acceptable price given convenience.
After 1 hour 30 minutes the dog was cut and I was billed an arbitrary price point — $ 146 because the dog was «squirmy» during the cut.
I unfortunately won’t be back and will not recommend this establishment.
Best advice I can give to ownership is be honest about price upfront.

Took my cat in for a full grooming and never again! I usually go to Spaw on King and love them but noticed this one is much closer to where I live so figured I might as well try them. Everything went nice and smooth until I came back 2 hours after to pick my cat up. Some aggressive and very inexperienced kid was shouting at me saying how aggressive my cat is and that she had to close the shop for 2 hours to help the groomer holding him still, well maybe if you treat him nicely and get enough staff would be better. She also suspected my cat got bitten by a dog or something because they found a cut by the end of his tail which is weird because I have no other pets and no I didn’t bite him! The groomer explained politely after that she couldn’t complete her job but the kid was still shouting at the same time not giving me a chance to understand what the groomer was trying to say. The kid was wondering how the previous groomer never complained or mentioned my cat’s bad behaviour. Maybe because he is not or maybe because they are professional knowing how to treat pets and keep them calm. I then checked my terrified cat, first his tail and found a wound/​cut with fresh blood on his tail but the kid insisted its 3 weeks old. He smelled awful and his hair cut was uneven, basically not completed. Instead of paying their $ 100 flat fee they made me pay $ 90 only which I find still a lot for their poor service. When I went home 15 minutes after, there was poop and pee all over the carrier and I had to bathe him. Never again!

I had to write another review because I couldn’t be happier with this place. My dog had his very first haircut today and all the staff are such a pleasure to deal with. They take the time to explain what they did and why they chose to do it. The most important thing for me is that my dog is happy and this is the second time he has gone here and both times I pick him up he is in great spirits and doesn’t want to leave. One other thing I loved is that they allow you to leave your dog for the day if you have too. What a nice bonus! There is no extra charge for that. Harley looks great and just loves going here. The only thing that will be difficult is if we ever move from downtown and can’t get to this place. For right now this will definitely be where I take Harley for all his grooming needs! Thanks again cosmopawlitan we are very happy clients:)

I brought my poodle in for grooming and specifically asked for a teddy bear cut, and most importantly to not shave his face. My instructions were completely ignored and no apologies were made when I pointed this out.
A few months later, I brought him in again just for nail trimming. He came back with a bleeding nail (they cut to the quick) which is fine, because accidents happen. But what really annoyed me is that they didn’t tell me when I went to pick him up. I didn’t even notice the bleeding paw until I found blood on my throw pillow.
Now, my dog is terrified of this store and will pull on his lead to get away from this place.

This review is slightly overdue, but my experience today at a competitor reminded me I should share my love of Cosmopawlitan.
A month ago I moved into a new condo, and with a 4 month old puppy decided he needed to be well taken care of for the day to make the day a bit less stressful. Enter Cosmopawlitan.
I set up the appointment in advance, was able to drop him off bright and early in the morning around 8am, and then made the spur of the moment decision my puppy should be brought home to our new place all cleaned up, so asked if they could fit in a bath and trim for him while he was there, which was very easily arranged.
When I picked Oliver up, he was happy as could be (I could tell he truly enjoyed his day there) and looked so spiffy after his bath he was fit for a photo shoot! And he even smelled awesome!
After bringing him somewhere else for a bath and trim today (I had a coupon, which prompted the trial of somewhere else), he is forever a Cosmo doggie now. I was expecting him to come out looking as awesome as he did at Cosmopawlitan, but that wasn’t that case, and he also seemed a bit overly happy to see me, as in ‘get me out of this place!’.
The products they sell are awesome, a great selection of treats and food, collars, and doggy clothes. The staff is friendly and genuinely care about the dogs. And it doesn’t have that pet store smell.
This store gets a big thumbs up from me, and paws up from Oliver!

Located in the construction-​ridden Harbourfront area, this cute little store offers a variety of quality pet food and pet supplies as well as pet care services.
My first impression of the shop was a good one. As you walk through the door, you are greeted immediately by whatever adorable cats or kittens they have up for adoption (my understanding is that they work in conjunction with the Humane Society and help find good homes for these cats… don’t worry, the furry creatures are caged!). The staff member that was working there was very friendly and offered me immediate assistance. She provided very informed suggestions and tips about cat food and also cat toys also adding that if you purchase 12 canned pet foods or more then you would save 5% off of your purchase. The prices of the pet food/​toys is pretty standard for a pet boutique shop. The checkout was very fast and efficient as well.
Overall, a great pet store in general. They carry a large variety of healthy food brands and a huge stock of pet supplies (bowls, mats, toys, etc). Staff members are very knowledgable and friendly and I would recommend this place to all pet owners.

Great neighbourhood pet boutique!
I live nearby and my dog absolutely loooooves coming here! Whenever we walk by she goes nuts and wants to come in and say hello to all of the friendly staff (perhaps it’s because they always give her lots of love and treats!)
If your dog is up on the current trends there are lots of doggy coats and accessories to choose from, including things like doggy barrettes and bling for collars.
They also carry a wide variety of natural and high quality food and treats. My dog cannot live without the dehydrated duck and chicken feet.
Grooming:
I believe the price of grooming is based on breed and size of your dog and you can call ahead for a quote. My dog always comes back looking fresh and clean. She is short-​haired with a double coat so is fairly low maintenance but I use to have a shih-​tzu that I brought here and he was definitely higher maintenance in the grooming department. He always came back looking like a handsome little devil. I love that they provide you with a report card to tell you about how the groom went and if they noticed anything of concern about your pet.
Pet Stay:
Their pet stay hours are from 7:45am to 7pm. I believe there is a size/​weight limit for their services, around 45 lbs. I’ve used this service before and my dog played all day long. She was exhausted by the time we got home!
They also accept donations like food and toys for rescue dogs/​shelter dogs.
Fantastic place, looking forward to our next visit.

Has everything you’d need for your pet!
Lots of brands and choices.
Clean and spacious, and the staff is nice enough.
Carry lots of brands of food, including a deep freeze with raw choices.
They also do dog grooming. They’d clipped my dogs’ nails more than once; just make you make an appointment. The grooming is super busy and typically take walk-in’s because of it.
Last time I was there, I noticed they have a couple cats up for adoption!
They work with the cat rescue to help adopt cats find new forever homes. Sweet!

My Max (Havanese 6 years old)
Pet Grooming I n c i d e n t !!!

My Max got groomed on Dec 23, 2011 by Sair. At the time I brought Max to the shop, Hoann (the owner) was at the front desk. I specifically said Max needs to be groomed «just like the last time» (I believe the length was between ¼ to ½ inches long) and the tail needs to be trimmed because it is too long.
About an hour later, I brought Max back home and noticed that Max doesn’t eat well and looked under a lot of discomfort and distress. I checked his body and found a WOUND in outer part of ear the part of skin was pinched out and it was red and inflamed. (both ear had soft pink spots where it looked tender) And also, his hair length was still the same.
Next day, I brought Max back to show them the wound and to find out how the injury occurred. The groomer and the owner wasn’t at the shop but I was able to speak with the lady at the front desk. I showed her Max’s WOUND .
On Dec 30, when Sair was able to meet me I showed her the photo of Max’s ear where it was wounded. Sair DENIED of the incident. I asked Sair how the ear was treated while Max was groomed. Sair said hairs were pulled out by hand and the comb may have been used in the presence of mat. I asked her to showed me a comb which was used on Max. I think that the wound was not from a comb and also not by pulling hair by baer hand.
I asked Sair if Max made any painful noise while ear hairs were pulled out. Sair said Max didn’t made any noise but Max «SCREAMS» while in bath tub and getting dried up by high velocity drier. I was traumatized by what I just heard. I asked Sair, if Max SCREAMED because he was in pain or experiencing any discomfort. Sair said, «No, Max just do that…»
Each time (total 3 times) Max was groomed here, I always ask how Max did, the respond was always positive and no one mentioned of Max SCREAMING while getting a bath and dried up. This should have been informed to me at the very first time Max screamed because it is very disturbing to me not to mention how traumatizing it had been to Max.
Not to mention Max got wounded and also the service not delivered because I told Hoann and Sair the grooming needs to be done just like last time (¼ — ½ inches long). Now Max needs another grooming ASAP because hair is getting very long and getting mats.
Even though, Max’s WOUND appeared to be healed in a week, since the grooming incident, Max was not feeling well, his tear drops has been dropping much more than usual and also the fact that he SCREAMED while getting a bath and dried up and most importantly his ear needed a visit to a vet clinic.
Max was cheked by a vet on Jan 2^nd, 2012. The vet informed me that Max’s one of the ear looked «more pink» which needs to be treated with MalAcetic HC (my understanding for using this medication would be due to indication: For pets with inflamed and/​or irritated ears as a cleaning and drying solution.) for about 5 days. And told me that the incident where Max SCREAMS while getting groomed should have been informed to me .
Max can’t tell me how he feels but I am sure he has been traumatized by grooming experience at Cosmopawlitan Pet Boutique + Spa, and I am still traumatized by this incident. I requested to have my grooming money refuned but the owner denied of an incident and also giving refund.
The owner emailed back to tell me not to return to her shop any more and they «warned» all of the local groomers about me. Furthermore, owner made up stories saying that each time I brought Max to the shop that I asked them if they beat my dog… and also Max’s anxiousness while visiting the Cosmopawlitan is influenced by me. I believe some dogs may enjoy getting groomed but some dogs may not because of unfamiliar environment. Furthermore, I am here to discuss my Max’s wounded ear from getting groomed here.
Please do not make up stories because HONESTY is very important. I also voted you online to be elected for best grooming shop in Toronto in Nov or Dec 2011 which was not too long ago. (I am not sure exactly what the event was called). I believe your shop was elected to be the best one in town.
Anyone of us can make mistakes in life… What’s important is, we need to learn to accept it and be responsible… then you can move on with life in peace of mind

I love Cosmopawlitan! Staff is great and accommodating. We board our dog there and Jennifer takes good care of her!

I LOVE THIS PLACE.
Great location, wonderful staff, one of the BEST and biggest selections of canine attire in the city (with the freshest fashions), and also stocks Malik’s food! Never smelly, always clean and beautifully laid out.
Not to mention it’s down the street from Harbourfront Centre, where I work! PERFECTION.
I have taken advantage of the grooming services and the doggy day care here, which were both phenomenal and well-​priced.
This is the only place I have ever used for day care (they call it «Pet Stay») and I was such a wreck the first time I left her alone (nervous parent) it was ridiculous. They were patient with me, understanding, so lovely and very comforting. Eventually (by the 2^nd or 3^rd time) I felt totally comfortable leaving Malik, knowing she would be well taken care of, exercised throughout the day, and kept with other similar-​sized and similar-​temperamented doggy friends. They have the option of early-​morning drop-​off, which I needed — VERY convenient, and you can call and check in during the day if you like.

A huge store right down on the lake. I rarely get out here but when I do I never walk away empty handed. They have a good selection of foods, toys, dog clothes, beds, etc. I even bought my dog’s potty park here (totally worth it!) and his flexible dog bowls. The staff seems knowledgable and they do grooming (my dog is short haired so we haven’t tried this service out but there seemed to be a steady stream of dogs so it looks popular). The owner has even special ordered a few items for me and my pooch.
