Originally drawn by their website which is filled with beautiful goods and is very informative, the store experience was the same. From traditional to unique, the contents of the store is drool worthy.
We had patient, helpful service, and recommend them as a place to include as a source for engagement and wedding pieces.
In relation to the reviewer who had the high engraving cost. How unfortunate (in this situation a minimum 50% reimbursement would have been kindly). If it brings any solace, I have pieces hand engraved and machine engraved. Hand is by landslides better looking and the sentiment makes it a truly endearing piece forever.

Completely baffled by the other reviews here! I’m convinced that some of the negative Unilocal reviews here must be fake because our experience was incredible.
My fiancé purchased my engagement ring from Cynthia Findlay.
I knew that I wanted a vintage engagement ring and I had googled and found Cynthia’s website. We decided to go look at a few rings so we ventured out on Sunday morning just around opening time.
They literally have thousands of rings, of every type and price range. I immediately told the lady working there what we were looking for and the price range. She started taking out trays of rings to get us started. Not once did she try to upsell us or show rings beyond the price range.
Within 15 minutes I had narrowed it down to a few rings and eventually one that I loved.
The staff were all so warm and lovely. Asking my fiancé and I how we met, etc. They also took our photo and emailed it to us and they gave us a gift bag with champagne and diamond cleaner.
We were also given a printed record of the ring’s history along with the specs on the diamond and band.
If you are considering an antique ring I highly recommend going here, you will not find anywhere with a selection comparable.

I have to begin by saying I am an avid jewelry buyer. Since moving to Toronto, I’ve been looking for shops that sells antique jewelry and they are pretty hard to find. A co-​worker told me about Cynthia Findlay, so on my lunch break I went to the shop. It’s a little hard to find, as it is tucked into the building and dose not have a direct entrance. Once I got in there I was shocked by the prices. Shocked! While I know the price of gold is rather high and I’m sure the rent for the shop isn’t cheap the prices are just beyond ridiculous. How could anyone in good conscience charge those prices? $ 4000 for a plain unsigned lapis ring? I first assumed that these prices were a starting off point for negotiation but the older women behind the counter, who I assume was Cynthia Findlay, rather rudely told me that prices are firm. There was a young couple there buying an engagement ring and I desperately wanted to tell them not to do it. But this Unilocal review is the best I can do. I would stay away from this place. They obviously pray people’s naivety when it comes to jewelry.

These below average reviews come as a surprise. Before heading over to Cynthia’s I checked out the google reviews and all of them (over 50) were incredibly positive.
We arrived on a snowy day looking for a «romance ring» as they called it. We were wet but they insisted on taking our coats so we could browse around comfortably. After getting an idea of what my style and budget was the sales associate did an impeccable job at choosing rings I liked. They were knowledgable about the history of the items, honest about how they looked on me and kept reminding me to slow down, not rush and enjoy the process. I was also impressed that they took photos and emailed them to both of us hours after leaving the store on a Saturday night! We also got a small bottle of champagne (no sparkling) and jewellery cleaner as a gift.
It was an overall fantastic experience and I would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Cynthia’s for fun or to find an antique or a «romance ring».

I came here to buy an engagement ring from the 1920s. This store was recommended to me by a friend who had bought his fiancée’s engagement ring here. As someone who is not an antique dealer or jeweller, I was already pretty apprehensive, stressed and uncomfortable of this purchase (as I assume most of us guys buying engagement rings probably are). Cynthia personally assisted me for with purchasing a ring from her large collection of rings for something within my budget, staying a good 30 minutes past her closing time to finalize this sale.
I’m really happy with the purchase, and was really relieved at how enjoyable the purchase process was. I’m actually posting this review months later as we had to go back to get the ring repaired as my fiancée had damaged a brittle part of the metal work with regular use. We once again dealt with Cynthia who repaired the ring for no fee.
I can’t comment on Cynthia’s prices as I am not educated enough to be able to compare the antiques space or jewellery price points. What I can say though is I found the selection in her store huge so I could see a variety of styles, and I am blown away by the service which was incredibly warm and welcoming. To me, the least I can do for her and her business is leave a review.

Bought my fiancé her ring here; it was a unique one of a kind find that she fell in love with. The process was quick and painless, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Sizing and cleaning was thrown in to boot!
Couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Just back from a very disappointing experience at the store! We had bought Sterliing antique, cufflinks here and wanted to have them engraved. The person who waited on us said that that would be no problem and that she knew of an engraver. When we went to pick them up the cost of the engraving alone was $ 160! This was for engraving three initials on the cufflinks She at no time led us to believe that the cost would be so exorbitant. The cost for the engraving was almost the cost of the cufflinks themselves. At no time did she call to let us know that this would be the case. When we spoke to her about it she seemed tone deaf to our surprise and disappointment.
We will never return!

I am from Montréal, where there are areas dedicated specifically to antique furniture/​jewellery. I have always appreciated the «hunt» and understand the difference between retail and antique shopping. After being a long time customer at Cynthia Findlay, I will NEVER go back. Most of the staff are rude and dismissive when asked questions. I am quite young, and I do not appreciate being treated as though I am an inferior customer. I used to take my mother every time she would visit me, but after the last time I walked into the store alone, I will not make that mistake again. while they do have some interesting pieces, the space is beyond cluttered and overpriced. They have $ 5,000 silver platters stacked on the floor– why should I pay top dollar for something that is treated as if it were worthless? Above all, I will reiterate, their staff are terrible and unhelpful if you are looking to spend under 1,000 $. There are much better antique stores in the city, and if you can’t find them, wait to take a trip to Montréal!

Wonderful Service
I wanted to purchase an antique engagement ring but had always been concerned with quality and the fact that some dealers can be a tad untrustworthy. I gave Cynthia Finlay a try based on reputation and feedback from others and could not have asked for a better experience. I was helped by Robyn who was amazing and helped me pick out the perfect ring. I never felt any pressure and will definitely be back in the future.

Let me start off by saying I’ve never purchased an antique in my life. At least not knowingly. So consider this a review from a person who got dragged along into this store.
This seems like the mother of all antique stores, simply based on its size. When you first walk in it seems the store goes on forever. There is a LOT of stuff here. Very pretty jewelery, lots of china, old toys, antique Christmas ornaments, sports equipment, you name it. I was actually pretty fascinated with some of the stuff they have. Everyone working here was very knowledgeable and willing to help you find whatever you need, but also able to let you browse on your own.
The thing about this store that freaks me out is I swear, with every step I took on the wooden floor boards, stacked china tea cups and plates would audibly and visually shake. I was so nervous. I had myself convinced I was going to break something, and glancing at the price tags on said items did not help.
Which brings me to another point — again, I do not know my antiques, but those I went with did, and they all commented that the items in the store were a lot pricier than they were used to. To be fair though, they restore everything and keep it all in immaculate condition, so maybe you are paying for a little bit of that work.
This place is definitely worth checking out — as long as you are not clumsy.
