Well, we finally got to try Dag’s after a false start a few months ago. We arrived then to a «closed» sign(I forget the circumstances), so we went to Kensingtons across the street. THAT was a mistake. Back to Dag’s. Fine dining it’s not, but there’s something about the comfy vibe here that pleases. The very pleasant owner works by herself during the week, and her daughter helps out on the weekend. Considering the fact that she’s taking orders, working the cash, cooking and serving by herself, we’ve waited longer for 4 meals at plenty of fully staffed diners. The coffee is excellent and free flowing, the breakfast was about average, and the price was right. If you’re not in a hurry, and don’t mind ordering at the cash and getting your own coffee condiments, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dag’s.

Stopped in here one day for a quick coffee and a breakfast snack. All I have to say is thank heaven I had eaten a little something before stepping into this place. I know I shouldn’t expect it to be all high end glamour with a stunning décor, but wow… what a dump! I know it’s a greasy spoon, but seriously?! I ordered a egg, cheese and ham sandwich on whole wheat toast and a coffee. Words cannot sufficiently describe how utterly unappealing this sandwich looked when it was dropped on the table in front of me. By the way, I should mention that this place is, for the most part, self serve. You want utensils, napkins, cream for your coffee? Well, you’re just gonna have to get off your duff and walk it over to the counter to pick up your utensils(bonus, you can choose between plastic or stainless steel) and napkins your damn self. Oh and no creamers here baby. That’s all you… once again, get on up out of the comfort of your seat and walk yourself over to the small, um, beer fridge, where the cream, milk, etc. are located. It was like eating at a friend’s house, a hungover friend’s house that is. The whole place feels like it’s been thrown together on a whim and that the owners have decided to figure things out as they go. The place just felt worn and dirty. To be completely honest, I have no idea how this place has been here, but it looks like it’s been around for a while, so they obviously have some fans, and the sign out front refers to «Dag’s Famous Breakfast». However, I definitely would not consider myself to be one of their fans.
