Established in 1981.

Dance Plus was founded by Barbara and Ron Wilson, ballroom dance competitors who danced together for 53 years. A fixture in the Ontario dance community, they placed in the finals of many Canadian competitions and even competed at Blackpool. The mission of Dance Plus has always been to enable every dancer regardless of their ability, to dance comfortably and safely, maintain foot health, feel wonderful, and thus dance with joy!

Dance Plus was started in 1981 by amateur ballroom dancers, Barbara & Ron Wilson, who wanted local dancers to have access to the professionally handcrafted dance shoes they had purchased in England. Unlike fashion shoes adapted for dancing, these shoes were engineered from the ground up for the ballroom and latin dancer. Dance Shoes could be both a beautiful work of art, and sport specific footwear that protects, and enables the athlete to perform at their best. Involving their children, they set out to create a business that put the dancer first by providing honest recommendations specific to each dancer. Ultimately though, Dance Plus is a family business that includes their children and still puts the dancer first.
