Description

Specialties

District Oven is an upmarket Middle’terranean restaurant and bar located in the heart of the trendy vibrant College and Ossington area. Our menu is a creative mix of Middle Eastern and southern Mediterranean ingredients and techniques. Our cocktails invoke a return to old-school recipes fused with the aromas and spices of the region.

History

Established in 2014.

District Oven is a family-run operation helmed by co-owner and executive chef Isam Kaisi, who is also the owner of 93 Harbord and co-owner of Blue Fig.

Customers are encouraged to share a mix of mezze and tapas, kebabs and seafood platters, as well as flatbreads topped with halloumi cheese and za’atar, a Middle Eastern spice blend.

The restaurant’s name fits the theme: it refers to the big village ovens that once anchored many medieval Mediterranean communities. At District Oven, you can gather around our hearth, the focal centre of the restaurant. Here you can find delicious, authentic, innovative dishes that invite you to share, linger, and savour — meals to nourish your body and your soul: meals that celebrate not just good food but also the people with whom you are sharing your meal.
