Do Bamboo is a specialty retailer of bamboo clothes, bedding & bath products. The store stocks clothing for women, men, youth, children & babies. Some clothing is sweat shop free and made in Canada or the USA. Other bamboo products include The Bamboo Bottle & To-​Go Ware bamboo utensils.

The store also customizes apparel in minutes. Customers can either bring in their own design or have standard designs done in store for no extra charge. A variety of prints can be done including full colour photos, lettering, logos etc.

History

Established in 2006.

John Elias founded Do Bamboo and has always considered himself an environmentalist. Looking to start his own business in 2006, he stumbled across an article about the benefits of bamboo. «I wanted to get passionate and really believe in the products I was selling,» John recalls. «Bamboo is environmentally friendly and it brings comfort to people. It was a win/​win opportunity.»

He started selling bamboo clothes online at www​.dobam​boo​.com and at consumer shows, opening his first Do Bamboo store in Toronto in July 2009. «Do Bamboo is a very unique concept,» says John, who sells bamboo products exclusively, from bedding and bath towels to clothing and customized apparel. «There’s not another like it in Ontario, Canada. You can order bamboo products online, but we’re the only bricks and mortar retailer. People tell us they have found bamboo elsewhere, but they go back to get more and it’s gone. Nobody has the selection we have here. It’s all bamboo and it’s all under one roof.»
