meh. friend insisted we go here since he goes here quite a bit. it’s definately not even comparable to some of the korean joints in the area. the food was kinda bland and just ok. however, it was served with the purple rice which was nice. all in all, i found the place a little pricey for what it was worth, and the fact that it was empty on a friday evening is a sign.

Place rating: 2 Toronto, Canada
When I first went to this spot, it was freezing cold day — I wrote a good review for the place — but I think it was skewed by the cold and starvation. I’ve been to this place several times since then and my opinion has changed significantly. I realized that I was completely diluted. They are still the only place I know that brings you wild rice(it looks purple) instead of white rice, which is a little more better for you. They still the most generous with their ingredients — tofu, especially — in their soups. The small spaces still provides intimate setting for up to 4 people. Now, I am aware that each visit grants a different experience… but some things reamained consistent, and the following is what I noticed in the last few visits that brought their rating down for me. The Kim Chi they bring you — I don’t know WHY — but it has a funny Wasabi-like aftertaste. WTF? Weird — and it tastes like– oh I dunno, as if it’s been frozen too long — there’s not much flavour. I had miso stew/soup — which came with lots of tofu and some seafood, just the way mum used to make it — but no potatoes. It was spicy more than anything, when should have a strong miso flavour — it was like they took a tiny bit of miso paste to ensure that there is a hint of miso — diluted it and put a lot of hot chili paste to compensate for the flavour. Even the service took a nose dive — i was served by the owner couple — and while I don’t expect exceptional service — I expect some acknowledgement of sorts — zilch. On one visit, while I was eating — someone — a family friend I suppose — brought in a dog, and it was running around the restaurant. The owner kissed it, pet it and gave it lots of love(I understand, I have a dog too) and without washing her hands, just started serving. That didn’t appeal to me all… I’m not sure anymore how they remain open, because each time I go I am the only one there. Yesterday was the last visit though — I am just not willing to pay $ 1 more for diluted food when I can get great food for $ 1less.
