Room stunk like musty cigarette smoke. My clothes smelled after I left. The blankets have cigarette burns in them. The place is just generally unclean and run down. Breakfast sucks. Just a couple bagels and a loaf of bread. Just do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. Oh and the wifi is terrible.

I was planning to go out on Friday night so went on Hotwire and happened to get this hotel. It was really easy to find but the only down side is that it’s a block away from the streetcars and a couple blocks away from the subway. I find it far, especially with frozen and slushy sidewalks, with heavy bags in your hand. Checking in was fast and convenient. I was on the third floor, unfortunately they do not have a elevator so it was a mission getting up the stairs with my heavy bags. As soon as I opened the door to my room, I saw a hair ball outside of the washroom door. Eww! I actually left it there, thinking the whole time how to get rid of it. So I used my hair dryer to blow the hair ball outside into the hallway haha. The bed and washroom look very standard but is a good size for two people. The toilet had this permanent skid mark,(maybe calcium built up lol) eww! The shower drain kept closing and it was annoying so I wore my flip flops in the shower and when I was walking around in my room. The temperature in the room was perfect, so I didn’t need to fiddle around with the thermostat, like I do in most hotels. Oh I forgot to mention this place has no parking so that was an inconvenience as well. Overall nothing special but worth it for $ 70 downtown. Checking out was pretty straight-forward and we grabbed a coffee on our way out, since all guests have continental breakfast. Will I come back, maybe not, but for last minute place to crash. Sure!

I second Toni M.‘s review. Room and bathroom were perfectly clean and felt freshly built/renovated. Price revolves around $ 100/night which is about right, perhaps a deal for the downtown core. Would stay again.

i wasn’t really a fan. not a bad place if you just want a bare-bones bed and shower, but i rely on a solid internet connection when i’m traveling for business and this place really dropped the ball. i got service for a couple of hours in the evening, but for most of my stay the internet was not working at all. the front desk didn’t seem to care, and instead tried to convince me several times that it was working fine, despite the fact that it wasn’t working on any of the three devices i brought. what was most insulting though was when they told me multiple times that i must be doing something wrong with all three of my devices and that maybe i should come downstairs to get them to take a look at my computers. i also wouldn’t really consider this place downtown. it’s REALLY far to walk to anything during February, including good food. there is a convenience store and burger joint across the street, but neither could provide me a hot meal at 11pm. the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired too — basically cereal, loaves of bread, and bagels with nothing to spread on them.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The pros: This hotel is within walking distance of many of the great things to do in Downtown Toronto — Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre, CN Tower & Hockey Hall of Fame are all less than a 30 minute walk from here. Yonge St. is about a 10 – 15 minute walk. The hotel is very affordable compared to some other hotels in the area. The room we stayed in was clean and I saw no signs of bedbugs. The breakfast consists of bagels, toast, cereal, coffee & orange juice. The staff was really nice to us. There was decent water pressure in the bathroom and good heat/air conditioning. The cons: There is no parking provided for this hotel — however there are plenty of pay lots and garages to choose from(I recommend the Bond Place Hotel Garage just off Dundas Street, it’s not too far from Econolodge & costed us $ 30 for 2 days worth of parking). Across the street late at night, hookers hang out in front of the Harvey’s restaurant. Just stay on the other side of the street and they probably won’t bother you.

The hotel itself is okay. About as much as you’d expect from a 2 star. Proximity to Dundas Square is a big plus, but the immediate area is sketchy. If you’re okay with homeless people and hookers hanging out near the hotel you’ll be fine, but if that bothers you look elsewhere. Also, we always seemed to have someone’s long strands of hair on our pillows every time room service came by… hair nets might be a good addition for the room staff there…
