Epic Burgers and Waffles

I got the chicken and waffles… blah. Waffles are a tad to firm for me, it’s not even fresh and chicken was too dry. Disappointed in my food selection at the CNE.

Epic Burger and Waffles is a food stand that they have at the Canadian National Exhibition. The stand itself has 4 main menu items that are all pretty unique in their own way. The Donut burger and the Chicken and Waffles sandwich were the most appealing to me.
The Chicken and waffles sandwich is 2 fried chicken tenders sandwiched between a homemade waffle. They lather a thick slice of butter, maple syrup, and hot sauce all across the sandwich. The chicken tenders were meh. They were very hot and the meat was nice and juicy, but the batter was crusty, and didn’t have any taste. The waffle itself was actually real good. Warm and soft with enough firmness to hold up the chicken tenders.
They also have donut burgers with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a giant burger where the buns are replaced with grilled cheese sandwiches. Almost everything there was about $ 10 – 11, not including any sides or toppings so it definitely is a bit pricey.

This food vendor has only been available in the Food Pavilion at the CNE, but it is well worth a visit. Last summer I shared their The Donut Burger and it was fantastic. Not only was it great because instead of a bun, it had TWO Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but the hamburger paddy itself was quite moist and tasty. I would consider going back to the CNE this year just to eat it again. Their other offerings include: The Original American Smash-​Burger, Chicken and Waffles, and The Behemoth Burger (which is a hamburger slamed between grilled cheese sandwiches, much like the Vatican City on the secret menu at Burger’s Priest)
