A bit difficult to find. Ended up at silver city initially but after finding the mandarin just down the street it was smooth sailing. The theatre had a nostalgic feeling and yes it may be a bit «rundown» but it all felt part of an experience. The theatre was clean and well maintained. The only problem I’d say is the screens were a tad bit small but it’s not a theatre for action epics or 3D films. It was for those art or drama films where after 10 minutes you forget you’re watching on a smaller screen.

This brings back so much nostalgia. I didn’t even know this place still existed. We were here as part of a film festival.
The seating is what most of us grew up with. Its all one level, and in order to avoid the head in front of you, you can situate yourself in the most comfortable slouched position at the bottom of your chair.
I used to wonder why my parents wanted to sit at the back of the theatre, and I kind of understand why. To avoid looking up, I would go with middle to the back.
Popcorn and snacks are all the same as the regular theatres. There is no special accomodation for ticket holders for parking. Free parking on the side streets. I remember the parking lot being super tight and hard to manuever.

Man this place is old. Old style seating, old style screens, old style concessions. Old, just old.
But charming. It reminds me of the theatres I’d go to when I was a wee boy. Even the smell is familiar. And cheap (well, for Toronto). And you get scene points.
Last time I came here, I watched Captain Philips all by myself. Yes! I was the solo creeper in the theatre! I’ve never been in a movie theatre that I had all to myself before. It felt like I knew some secret that nobody else knew. It was pretty boss.

We have been to this cinema a number of times.
Pretty good — often plays the more indy films which makes it great in my book.
The seats are not sightline however that mostly does not come into it and the sound is always good.
Has a snacks stand with all the usual suspects.
There is a parking lot on the same upper level (off Berwick), which is quite handy.

The yeeeiiik:

* seating is almost same level (although there is a slight incline towards the last 2 rows in the back
* your basic popcorn and soda pop selection in the concession stand
* there’s a creep watching a movie alone and sitting near you, in an almost empty theatre!
The good:
* part of the Cineplex chain so you can collect Scene points, redeem Scene points and use your discounted cineplex tickets
* not crowded. You practically have your run of the theatre and can sit anywhere you like
* sound is quality and loud without being deafening loud!
* screens art house movies your other cineplexes don’t
* if a wider released film is making its way out of the cinemas, so you can catch it here before it is removed from screening. It’s not a bad deal when you want to enjoy a movie and not worry about where to find seating because your other cineplex movie theatre is packed; or bustling with first-​run movies.

Runs art house films not available elsewhere. Snack selection minimal: popcorn, hot dogs, nachos & candy. Drink holders in front of seats, less convenient. Just down the hall from Mandarin restaurant.

Less glitzy than the Silver City just up the road.
To be honest I’d forgotten this theater even existed until I wanted to see a movie that was a little bit older and a little bit artsier than standard multiplex fare.
On a Saturday night it’s still humming, absorbing the overflow (and possibly some chicken ball grease molecules) from the Mandarin downstairs).
The theaters themselves lack stadium seating and overstuffed chairs; they’re a little small and a little dated, but the popcorn is fresh and the diet coke is cold.
For a fun night out, just off the mainstream it’s definitely worthwhile. You might even save a few bucks,

I always cringe whenever the movie I want to watch is only playing at Canada Square and not at SIlvercity.
The theatre is dated and makes me feel like I’m in a lecture hall at school rather than in a movie theatre. If you like feeling nostalgic, maybe this will suit your tastes.
If they are going to keep the 80’s vibe, then they should’ve also kept the 80’s ticket prices. Otherwise, you’re not getting any value for your money here.

This movie theater reminds me of going to theaters in the eighties and nineties before the super-​plex cinemas came along. It almost feels low-​tech, with red carpeted floors, food options that only includes popcorn, chocolate and soft drinks; and nothing else — no arcade, party room or overwhelming displays. The theatres themselves are comparatively low-​tech, for the same reasons. I liked this.
The benefit in all of this is that’s far less crowded than Silvercity, just up the road and slightly less expensive too. A solid movie watching experience, where the focus is on the movie.

Canada Square is tucked away on the south-​west corner of Yonge & Eglinton, and if it’s your first visit you can easily miss it. Go up the escalator to the second floor and then through a little hallway.
Each of the 8 theatres feature a smallish screen and seats which are pretty darn uncomfortable by the end of a movie. What Canada Square does have going for it over the large SilverCity theatre across the street is film selection. While the larger, more comfortable SilverCity cinemas are showing the latest blockbuster on several screens Canada Square usually offers a variety of independent and foreign films.
