Went here for the first time for St. Patty’s day as I live close by and my girlfriend and I didn’t want to venture downtown. We arrived at 9pm, it was fairly busy and not many seats left. The beer selection is good and they had Canadian on sale, a pint for $ 5. The reason for the 2 stars is that they only had 1 bartender working. You would think they would have had more considering it was St. Patrick’s day. Saying that, it took between 30 – 45 minutes to order a drink. I had to order a beer twice as the bartender had forgotten I had ordered a drink. The music was also way too loud, I had to scream at my girlfriend that was just inches away from me in order for her to hear what I was saying.

Not being from the area, and having just gone to the Zoo, my group of friends and I tried looking for the closest place that had good reviews. This place seemed to win, but I have absolutely no idea why. From the minute we walked in, I had an idea what type of service we’d receive. The waitress apparently said«sit down anywhere on the left side», but with the crappy ass music they were playing at a pretty high volume for an empty bar(it was 5pm with 3 other people in there) we heard«sit anywhere you’d like». So we did. Then we hear«did you guys pretend not to hear? I said anywhere on the left. It’s fine now, just for future reference». Future? You’re lucky we were starving and tired from walking all day or we would have left. Not like your sofas were comfy at all. They were tacky and broken into. My ass hasn’t been that strained and in pain since that trip to the bathhouse (that never happened.) Now, I love chicken pot pie. And having read the menu for awhile, and noticing everything said«fresh» and«home made», I was excited. So I ordered it. My friends ordered some bangers and mash, and chicken fingers, and some wings. The food comes… Not only was my pot pie burnt on the sides, but it wasn’t home made. It was obviously a Swanson pot pie you can pie for a buck at the grocery store. How can you even get away with writing«home made» and«fresh» — just because you threw it in your oven doesn’t make it home made. The fries were. well, fries. They were decent. You can’t really mess fries up. But they weren’t top knotch or anything. Obviously also frozen. My disappointment grew with every bite I took. The bangers and mash had frozen pees and boxed mash potatoes — fresh and home made my Irish ass(Im not Irish, but it seemed fitting). Apparently this place has Karaōke days and is a cool hang out for regulars, which I assume are the people that only go for booze since you can’t completely mess that up. And maybe if you’re all boozed up, you don’t notice how unfresh and terrible the food is. Who knows — maybe that’s pretty genius. If you want to come to this place, eat before hand. There’s a Mcdonalds near by and a pizza place right next door –then come here to pretend you can sing and entertain the grumpy servers who obviously hate their lives for working here.

I’ve been coming here regularly lately and I’m not %100 on why. I think it is either that they have fixed there wings and now serve some of the best wings again or if I’m just addicted to pool. A word of advice, you may want to order your food, drink etc. at the bar or you could be waiting a while to get served. Its either the new waitress is slow but I’m more inclined to believe that this has something to do with the gentlemen at the entrance of the pool section who are loud, obnoxious and intimidating, also they keep wreaking the mens’ bathroom for no apparent reason.

We went last night and the waitress was rude and miserable the entire night. I’d be ashamed if anyone left her a tip. Fries were absolutely terrible. I don’t even know how you can cook them badly.

To us this place has the best wings in the city. They’re big, saucy(go for medium) and perfectly fried. Burgers and fries are delicious, pizza is so so, depending on the toppings. Great variety of beers on tap and their kegs have coolers so the beers are always freezing cold(nothing worse than a cool beer). Been going here for over ten years and the service has always been good. New owners have taken over recently and the newer staff has been just as great. The décor is typical dated pub style but the atmosphere is friendly and cozy. They always have great drink specials, $ 2 Sambuca shots on most days, pricing in general is excellent. If your in east scarborough this is a great place to get loaded for cheap and eat good food.

22 beers on tap, and they have party platters now too for about 35 bucks 5 pounds of wings will ring you up 35 aswell. Normally id say go for it but they re quality of wings really sucked last night. They re big still, but the flavour of the honey garlic was not there, Even the hot was almost mild, which disapointed me because id been craving really hot wings. They have cleaned it up since ive been there last which is neither yay or nay because its still a cozy place to go and was never really dirty, they just updated it a little. I agree with someone else on here, it is for those a bit rough around the edges but thats just the area its in, its well lit with the gas station down the hill, and close to a bus stop that runs 24 hrs. Alot of locals and college kids go there. Age groups are across the map.

My nearby hangout for fun & friends. Karaōke Tuesday. my companion Yvonne T was a little excited, & eventually got one of the other girls loose enough for a duet of «Girls Just Wanna Have Fun»… They totally had fun! Free wi-fi, computer games & three pool tables(one dollar per game) up in the lounge type area separate from the bar. Food is priced fair with decent service. Onion rings are very tasty, with just the right amount of seasoning & barely any oil. The fries are less than optimal but that’s to be expected at a pub & at a low price(2.50 for a plate of fries). Great place to have fun with friends & dates alike.

Came to the Fossil & Haggis Pub as the boyfriend and friends love to hang out at this local joint. Tonight was Karaōke Tuesday. I was a little excited, and eventually got one of the other girls drunk enough and we did our rendition of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun… it was fun! Free wi-fi is a plus in case you’re not really the drinking/playing pool type of person or if you’re just plain anti-social, haha. Food is fairly priced and service is pretty decent. Their onion rings are quite tasty. Has just the right amount of seasoning and the batter isn’t too oily. The fries, as I stated in my last review, are a bit on the soggy side and drenched in oil, but that’s to be expected at a pub. All in all, a great environment to have fun at!

Came here for a work social on a Friday night. At Morningside and 401, it’s way out there for me as it’s nowhere close to my home or to work. Poor planning on the part of management, we had one server for over 50 people. In spite of this, she was awesome. She remembered everyone’s drink orders and was quick. I hope she got extra for being the only person working. Drinks were fine. Food was your typical pub stuff. This place caters to the ‘rough around the edges’ type, but it did the trick for the social. It’s a-ok here.
