Gasee, Cohen & Youngman (GCY) is a commercial law boutique with a team of 7 lawyers, and we are a recognized and respected legal firm that has been providing legal counsel to individuals and companies for over 40 years.

We think of ourselves as a small firm with a big impact: We specialize in real estate, debt collection and litigation but we also offer services in other legal areas including oppression remedies, shareholder disputes, contracts, and legal research. Our firm also represents employers and employees in all aspects of employment disputes, including wrongful dismissal claims, non-​solicitation and non-​competition provisions, confidentiality obligations, executive compensation and discipline issues.

History

Established in 1970.

Gasee, Cohen & Youngman was founded over 40 years ago with an original focus in litigation and collections. Founding partner, Bernie Gasee, a commercial litigator, is respected in his field and is certified by the law society as a specialist in litigation.

Currently, senior partner, Mark R. Youngman, who initially specialized in collections, commercial and insolvency litigation, and now focuses on real estate transactions, leads a team of 7 lawyers, and 15 staff in total, to ensure this small boutique firm makes a big impact with responsive customer service, simplified and stalwart legal advice.

Manager

Practice:

Mark practices in the area of civil litigation with an emphasis on debtor/​creditor and bankruptcy/​insolvency litigation. Mark also acts for purchasers, vendors and mortgagees for residential and commercial real estate transactions. He became senior partner in 2008.

Associations:

Mark is a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a member of NARCA (National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys), an international organization for collection lawyers and is a real estate law representative on the non-​builder industry expert group for Tarion. He is also the past director and treasurer of Shaarei Beth-​el Synagogue in Oakville.
