Specialties

Grassroots offers environmentally-friendly products that allow people to live a conscious, healthy life conducting a green lifestyle.

Grassroots has been operating in Toronto since 1994, making it one of the pioneers of spreading the word about eco-friendly products. Grassroots operates a retail store and an online store (www.grassrootsstore.com), and we are a great place to go for all your natural household needs, organic bedding and eco-friendly baby accessories, clothing, toys, gardening and much more. At our Riverdale retail location (372 Danforth Ave) you can also buy natural cleaning products in bulk, saving you a lot of money and saving the environment from harsh chemicals. Grassroots also organizes workshops and in-store events. History

Established in 1994.

Until Grassroots opened its doors in Toronto in 1994, there were very few options for green product choices. Word of our unique products spread gradually, and our small green business now mindfully operates a retail store as well as our online store.

We have pioneered to bring sustainable, low impact products to the marketplace, guiding people towards awareness and environmentally-responsible lifestyles.

Meet the Business Owner

Rob G.

Business Owner

I always maintain that an educated consumer is a green consumer. Once you are aware of the issues, you are compelled to make the environmental choice. So at Grassroots I have always focused on training my staff, not just about the products, but about the issues behind the products. I’ve always maintained that there is a story behind every product in a Grassroots store. That story could be about unsustainable logging practices, chemicals in the environment, air pollution or water pollution. With each of our products there is an environmental issue that we can talk about. Which makes Grassroots a very interesting shop. The level of conversation is very high — it gets very political, sometimes controversial, but mostly it is educational.
