Description

Specialties

HackerNest is an international nonprofit focused on building supportive «Silicon Valley”-type tech communities everywhere — strengthening local ecosystems through unpretentious social events and (hardware) hackathons. We’re nurturing cohesive communities today (over a dozen cities and counting!) to empower them with more relevant and accessible peer-based tech education tomorrow.

History

Established in 2011.

Founded on 11.1.11, HackerNest is now incorporated as a federal non-profit organization.

Our tech-centric events are universally lauded. With a few first and largest in Canada events under our belt, having the world’s largest programmers’ meetup group, and running notable events for the community, local and foreign governments, as well as for private enterprise, HackerNest has an unfettered, tarnish-free brand and reputation and is a fast-growing name in tech communities internationally.

«HackerNest Unite» is a directory and community platform bringing together community/industry/membership into a cohesive ecosystem featuring streamlined information from companies, jobs, events, classes, news, funding sources, and more. It perfectly complements our in-real-life communities as the foundations for improving the health and opportunities in any ecosystem — especially underdeveloped ones that need a leg up. The Unite project was a finalist in the 2015 Canadian Global Impact Competition.
