Oh Rose! My eyebrow lady who I visited time and time again once my brows began to get out of hand. Sadly this location has closed after being there for many many years. I believe the owner now does a few haircuts and waxing/​threading from her home. This place was usually busy with loyal customers coming in to get their haircut, bringing in their kids for their first haircuts and for all other hair problems!
This place was a good gem for neighbourhood workers/​clients and will be truly missed.

I firmly believe there is absolutely zero correlation between the amount you spend and the quality of the haircut… I have heard just as many horror stories coming out of Vidal Sassoon as I have coming out of First Choice. If anything, a fancy barber feels they know best, or even worse, that they need to give you «your money’s worth.» So it ends up being too short or they add in some flair of some kind or they completely take off your sideburns. A great haircut involves subtlety and this is usually at risk when you are spending more money.
And no, I don’t want a Cappuccino or a scalp massage or a manicure or any other nonsense when I go to the barber. It should be quick, involve a moderate amount of pleasant banter and be consistent. And it shouldn’t cost you more than $ 20. If the stylist is new or is unfamiliar with how you like your hair cut, they should take a little more time and get some direction as they go. If you are a dude and you feel the need to spend $ 80 on a haircut then you are probably a wiener and shouldn’t come here and ruin the good vibe they got goin’ on.
Hollywood Beauty Salon (HBS) is the best in the city. I’ve never had to wait, it’s quick but not rushed, they always get it right and it’s $ 10 tax in. I usually ask for the Keanu Reeves «Speed» and they seem to know exactly what I mean. And the head stylist is very attractive and is the real deal… I’m pretty sure she did some hair modelling back in the day (i think her picture is up on the wall).
The greatest haircut I ever got was at a Zellers in Oshawa… but those days are long gone :(HBS is really just as good and you aren’t tempted to buy another cute top you really don’t need on your way out :).
