In 2012, IBV Capital emerged from a well-​established multi-​family office to become an independent investment management firm. IBV Capital was formed exclusively to provide select investors with the ability to participate in the absolute value investment philosophy adopted by the family office. Our IBV Capital Global Value Fund LP now allows for Canadian accredited investors to participate with the family office in this investment strategy.

Our beginnings as a family office provide us with a unique perspective that has fundamentally shaped our culture and investment strategy. It gave us an appreciation for the tremendous effort it takes to generate wealth. In turn, we understand why protecting that wealth becomes so important.

Business Owner

Talbot Babineau is the President and Chief Investment Officer of IBV Capital, a boutique investment management firm.

Prior to co-​founding IBV Capital, Talbot managed all aspects, including the investment portfolio, of a highly successful and well established Family Office. Talbot launched the IBV Capital Global Value Fund exclusively to provide investors with the ability to participate in the investment philosophy he executed at the Family Office.

Before joining the Family Office Talbot evaluated acquisitions and dispositions, advised on debt and equity financing, and developed corporate strategic planning initiatives in the institutional commercial real estate industry.

Talbot has an Honours Economics and Financial Management degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is also a CFA Charterholder and is an active member on the Toronto CFA Society’s Equity Committee
