It is a great well used park with everything you cold want, tennis, swimming, splash pond, ice skating, baseball diamond, soccer field etc… Unfortunately it doesn’t have a dog run so owners let them run free and don’t always clean up after them, including in the tennis courts where kids play. Considering it took 9 months to renovate the tennis courts, I would assume it could take years to get a proper dog run area. Thanks Paula Fletcher City Counselor for all the care and attention to this matter. Lets all remember her at election time. Unfortunately to get re-elected you don’t have to be good, the system we have almost guarantees re-election regardless how bad they are.

This park is quite large given the location in a residential area. I walk my dogs here almost every day. There are lots of dog owners here and in many ways it’s an unofficial dog park. I wish they had an off leash area, especially considering that so many owners have the dogs off leash here anyways. There is a fenced in children’s play area. This park is on a quiet one way street, so it’s a good place for both children and dogs with minimal traffic. This park also has: — Tennis Courts — An ice rink in the winter, which doubles as a boarded in street hockey area in the summer. — A community centre. — A baseball diamond — A soccer field On the down side, there are elevation issues with parts of the park, causing it to flood very easily every time it rains. It takes weeks for it to dry out after the snow thaws. Also, city vehicles like to drive through the park for some reason, leaving large tire tracks across the field. Finally, they found a body behind the community centre last year. I was in the park while the police were there investigating. So that’s definitely one for the«minus» column.

This park is a neighbourhood gem. It’s where all the doggy mommies and daddies bring the fur babies when the weather is nice. Pros: the road adjacent to the park is a one way street, so it’s easier to look for oncoming traffic and watch out for the safety of the dogs. It’s also a reasonable size. The city actually takes good care of this park with regular lawn trimming in the summer months. Cons: in Spring when the snow thaws the dogs like to roll around in the dirt. yuck.
