Specialties
John Fluevog is a Canadian shoe designer hailing from Vancouver. His shoes are noted for their progressive, art deco inspired, and all around show-stopping styles. His shoes often include messages – for instance, «Resists alkali, water, acid, fatigue and Satan» — engraved into the soles. Fluevog’s are a statement piece to any wardrobe, and we strive to embody our motto: ‘Unique Soles for Unique Soles’.
History
Established in 1970.
After spending a summer hitchhiking down the west coast and witnessing the 1960s Social Revolution first hand, John returned to his hometown of Vancouver and began working for Sheppard’s Shoes. In 1970, he joined forces with fellow co-worker Peter Fox to start up their own shoe store in historic Gastown. The partnership, known simply as Fox and Fluevog, lasted over ten years at which time the two split amicably, leaving John to open the first John Fluevog Shoes in downtown Vancouver.

Business Owner
Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Fluevog spent much of his youth at his father’s drive-in ice cream parlour. During this time, he developed a passion for cars, which in turn has provided inspiration for many of his shoe designs. As his company’s website declares, «When he’s drawing a shoe, he’s thinking about a car and, when he’s drawing a car, he’s thinking about a shoe».
