Specialties
We specialize in classic French bistro cuisine including steak frites, French onion soup, sharing platters for two and a range of fresh seafood. Our wine selection is entirely French (unless we really like something else and think you would too) and very rarely available at the LCBO. We also have a great selection of cocktails and beer. Bön appetit et santé!
History
Established in 2000.
Jules Bistro was opened in late 2000 by a young French couple. Our Chef, Eric, was the only one in the kitchen for many years but as time has passed he has migrated from the line to the bar where you might find him sipping from a glass of fine Rosé and chatting with friends old and new. Over the years the menu hasn’t changed much (why fix something that isn’t broken?) and classic customer favourites such as the Sauté de Poulet or the salade Niçoise are still readily available, albeit on a menu that has changed covers a few times — indeed, we have a strong following of people living and working in the area, some of whom have been visiting us for over a decade! The area of Queen and Spadina may have changed gradually during our time here but we’re still a place that you can come in for good food, nice wine and great conversation.
Meet the Business Owner
Eric S.
Business Owner
Eric has been owning and running restaurants since 1985. His first restaurant (the original Jules Bistro) was opened in Grenoble, France, where he opened three more before moving to Canada in 1999. Moving to Canada opened new doors for Eric, and his original location was a French patisserie named Jules Café in Mt. Pleasant, Ontario. Very soon after opening Jules Café Eric returned to his love of bistro cuisine and home style cooking by opening Jules Bistro in downtown Toronto late 2000. He has been the owner and operator since, and can often be found at the bar with a glass of fine Rosé, chatting with friends and customers, old and new.
