King’s Landing

I wanted to like this place but I’ve decided that is impossible.
Only come here if you want to be ignored by too cool for you acting staff.
This place charges much more than your typical barbershop but fails to deliver the service or expertise that the price should command.
Save yourself the trouble and go someplace like terminal instead.
Do you really want to overpay some guy that pretends you are not there?

I didn’t realize how bad my experience was until the day after my cut. On first look my haircut was alright but I was never asked how I felt or if I wanted anything else before being pushed out of the barbers chair to make room for the next customer. He never even showed me the back with a mirror or anything. I just feel like this place isn’t very service oriented and is more of a machine designed to cut hair fast in order to get through a ton on walk in customers. That being said, really nice guys with a cool vibe to their shop. I don’t think I’ll be going back though. And now I have to live looking like a hipster version of Josh Donaldson until I go somewhere else to fix it.

Really disappointed in my last two cuts there, which is a shame because the first two I got were great. Won’t be back.

I came here a few months ago for a beard trim and it was great. Then today it felt like the barber gave up half way through the trim, cut way too much off. She must’ve known she screwed up because she sent me on my way quickly. Too bad. Lost a good month of beard growth. And it’s uneven. I can’t believe I tipped.

This has been my go-​to barbershop for a year now. I used to go to Crow’s Nest but got fed up with having to book a haircut a month in advance. Friendly staff, great tunes, reasonable price and wait time, and good hair cuts.

Was traveling from out of town, and got suggested to go to Crow’s Nest. Crow’s Nest was booked up for the entire day and they told me to check out King’s Landing. Little bit of wait but was able to walk in and get a nice clean cut. Barber was attentive to detail and the location was a nice place to hang out for an hour. Highly recommend this place!

Great spot. Everyone here gives amazing hair cuts and they’re all really friendly. Always love coming here.

I travel to King’s Landing from Mississauga for my cuts. Everybody here has such a great attitude. Chairs are usually full, so either come in earlier in the day, or call ahead. JZ is my barber… She does it all, including straight razor shaves. Couple that with the décor and you can’t help but feel a little nostalgic. I always leave with a smile, and sometimes a lollipop.

Very friendly and great work. Love the vibe. Quick and efficient. Apparently they do good social events as well. Definitely will come back!

Love bringing my dude here for his monthly groom-​ups! His beard and long hair can get quite rugged and sometimes crosses the line into making him look a touch dumpstery, but the Barbers at Kings always snazzy him up real nice. They truly do an awesome job on trimming and shaping his patchy and unruly beard and basically make him look a little more like a runway model and a little less like that weird dude that picks through your garbage for bottles and cans to trade in at the beer store… Speaking of beer, King’s landing now offers Sapporo and Red stripe! So get crunk while you ~get fancy~

Pernell has been cutting my hair for the last 2 years — a quality cut at a great price!
The shop is a great looking space!

I really needed a hair cut today so I called Hollow Ground looking for Pernell. A couple months back he gave me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had and I’ve remembered him since then.
Turns out he opened up a shop of his own, so I booked it over to Kings Landing and was really happy with the whole experience– which I kinda figured would happen, since Pernell did such an awesome job last time.
It’s a convenient location, a block or two West of Bathurst and College. The space itself is clean and classy but chill/​laid back at the same time. It has a giant window (great street view), flat screen TV (we watched The Price is Right, it was a good time). The chairs are old school Barber shop chairs so you feel kind of bad ass sitting in them.
Pernell and the dude at reception are down to earth and easy to talk to. Pernell knows what he’s doing with cutting hair, so I could just take it easy and trust it would turn out alright. He asked for feedback and listened to what I wanted and also incorporated his own ideas. He never tried to sell me any product. Overall this is exactly the cut I wanted so I’m happy.
I’ll definitely be going back and I highly recommend checking it out if you need a cut. The cut came to $ 27 which is really affordable to me. I appreciate the top quality experience at such a good price. Two thumbs up.

The guy who’s been cutting my hair for the past couple of years left Hollow Ground (excellent shop on Bloor) to open up his own spot at College and Bathurst. Not as close to my hood as before, but I will make the extra trip down here and maybe get some Sneaky Dee nachos after my appointment.
The shop just opened up a few weeks ago, so it’s a work in progress. The space is huge and they have about six antique chairs ready to go. I got to sit in the first chair which has a great view of College Street through a fairly large window. Nice TV hanging from the ceiling, classic funk and soul beats on the radio. Definitely makes for a good hair-​cutting vibe.
I can already tell a lot of work and love have gone into this place thus far, considering I think it used to be a questionable massage parlour (I could be wrong on that). They have great-​looking mirrors, beautiful chairs, and lots of classic barbershop tools.
Solid place to get a cut or shave. Quality work. And you get a Blow Pop when you pay at the cashier. Boom!
