Parents and Children
I have over 13 years of experience working specifically with children, adolescents and families through teaching and social work. I bring 9 years of teaching Special Education into my practice. Learning styles and peer relationships are often entwined in a child’s world view and mental health. I am also trained in evidence-informed practices for anxiety, ADHD and depression. Learning additional parenting techniques to best support your child can also be a goal of therapy. I can teach you the skills for implementing strategies like behavioral charts, setting limits, creating structure at home, reward and consequence systems, and time-out strategies.
I believe that each individual has the determination to make his/her own decisions. While I may at times encourage you to consider a different perspective or alternative action, I ultimately works with you in the «here and now» at a pace that is comfortable.
Individuals/Dating Coaching
In addition, I also work as a dating consultant. I have helped single people of all ages to find positive relationships. My expertise includes on and offline dating support. I teach profile writing techniques that help you to attract a good match, and teach you how to use online dating sites and effectively communicate online. We can also discuss and identify the cycles in your dating life/relationships, concerns with self-esteem, identifying your non-negotiables, and understanding what you’re looking for in a partner.
History
Established in 2011.
In addition to my private practice, I work at The Hospital for Sick Children as a Social Worker in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and in General Pediatrics. Here I engage in brief treatment related to crisis management and support. I also consult with a Chicago-based dating company, called Smart Dating Academy.
Before that, I was a Child and Family Therapist at Aisling Discoveries, where I provided family therapy and case management for Aisling’s Day Treatment Program. I assisted families in coping with relationship difficulties, health issues, parenting, exploring individual facts contributing to family stressors, and providing families with the tools they need to effectively cope with difficulties in the future.
