This was the worst MAC location I’ve ever visited! I don’t know if my expectations were set too high because I am a New Yorker, but I decided to come here because most locations in New York are sold out of limited edition collections. Upon entering, the store was empty, my friend n I were the only ones in there browsing. We were not greeted because the associates were in the back by the register talking. It didn’t bother me bc I figure eventually after swatching products they would come. One associate came over n let me know what I wanted was sold out n went back to her conversation. I thought she would at least suggest similar products. I continued browsing bc I am on vacation & felt like treating myself even though I know I could get things discounted in New York. While browsing the associate yells across the store«I know your pissed off we don’t have what you want but we are closing in ten minutes»! My friend was buying products n I was debating between 5 products and I decided not to purchase bc of this! I am a manager for a beauty company and if my staff ever spoke to a guest in such manner they would be put on a warning. I am huge on customer service! I will never go to any MAC store in canada ever again! The employee did not have her name tag but this is her employee #101808 and I will contact corporate. She should not be given the privilege to help men & woman.

I’ll admit it right up front: I’m a makeup moron. I can apply eyeliner and mascara and that is the limit of my ability. So when I was asked to figure out an appropriate makeup theme for my recent role as a bridesmaid, I knew I needed help. I nervously dragged myself into this MAC store, anticipating much eye rolling as I tried to explain what I needed. Luckily for me, the staff were knowledgeable and professional and, once they realized the depth of my ignorance, were more than willing to help me choose colours and teach me how to apply them. I’m not sophisticated enough to appreciate the finer things about this location(other reviews cover them well enough), but I can assure you that should you ever find your self in need of cosmetic guidance, you’ll be well looked after here.

MAC is one of my favourite makeup brands and I’m so happy to be able to have a Pro store in Toronto! This location is usually very busy(also, since it’s located in popular Queen and Spadina). All the limited edition items gets sold out really quickly. I think there should be more makeup artist working around since this location is so popular! I really like this location and the staff are amazing! Note: Mac Blushes has always been my favourite!

Dearest MAC Pro store on Queen St, how many thousands of dollars I have I spent within your walls? Too many to count, I daresay. Your amazing staff have helped inspire me to play with colour, try new things and blend, blend blend! Your colour testers are always lined up perfectly, your staff are fantastic and when I bring in 6 empty containers I can take home a free eyeshadow/lipstick or lipgloss(Back 2MAC recycling program). I have about 20 eyeshadow palettes and 4 blush palettes that I have filled with your glorious rainbow of colours and textures from your store — and it’s nice that you sell things in pro-pans so that I don’t have to depot as often any more. I hate that I can’t use my Pro card discount on special items(like the previous Hello Kitty and Fafi collections, or the Disney one coming out later this week) but that’s not your store’s fault and doesn’t stop me from shopping here. I’ll see you soon! Yours always, Patty

Of all the Mac locations in Toronto this once is by far my favourite! 1– They always have a healthy stock of EVERYTHING 2– It’s a Pro store, so they carry speciality items, professional lines and of course my amazing Black Boot Liquid Eye Liner. 3– Better deal with the recycle programme: You can return 6 product containers at any Mac store and get a free lipstick but at a PRO store you can select a lipstick, lip gloss or eyeshadow! 4– They do makeup applications… I called in to make an appointment for me and my BFF to get our makeup done for Fake Prom and was told they had a promotion going on. Instead of paying $ 55 for the application, you had to spend at least $ 55 in the store(that’s easy!!) The application session was fun, and my makeup artist did an awesome job(check out the pic).

I blame this particular MAC store for making me the MAC-A-HOLIC that I am today. Seriously though, how’s a girl who’s walking down Queen St. supposed to avoid this place? Moreover, how’s a girl who works down the street supposed to avoid this place? I may not work down the street from this place anymore, hell, I may not even work in the same city as this place anymore, but that does NOT change the following two facts: 1) That this place got me hooked on MAC 2) That this place is on my ‘Top 5 Places To Hit’ when I land in T. O later this month. The reason that this MAC store is my absolute favourite is because being the MAC Pro store that it is, it carries selections that other MAC stores just don’t. I’ve seen pigments here that I’ve never seen elsewhere, as well as exclusive shadows, eye kohls and accessory sets. Hell, I even splurged and bought a make-up bag here because they had one that no other MAC store carried. The staff here is la crème de la crème. They are true masters of the makeup art and do demos like nobody’s business. The service rocks, the selection is unparalleled and the product is… well, *perfect*.

So, I could probably argue that this was my main reason for moving to Toronto — the MAC pro store. What I love about this place, besides the pro products, is the service. Although this place always seems to be busy every time I go in, the staff are by far the friendliest and most knowledgeable MAC staff I’ve encountered(and I’ve been to A LOT of MAC counters/stores).

MAC was first introduced to me back in the 90’s by a friend from Miami– where makeup reigns heavy and runs down your face in the sweat. MAC has become the default for all things creative about my face now. Do not go here on Saturday afternoons expecting to get a makeover– there are just too many people here to get much attention. So, although once you get a MAC specialist, they will mostly focus on you, be wary of those people who just have a ‘quick question’. There are no simple answers at the MAC store. «I want some blue eye shadow,» turns into a display of weather you actually want shadow or a pencil and a rubby brush or a cream or a sparkle. If you truly just want a blue eye shadow, be prepared for a variety of shades of turquoise, navy and aquamarine. The women and men here are made up to the hilt and will help you look your best whether you are going to work and want a natural clean look or walking down the red carpet in Vegas and want to have eyelashes out to there.

The Mecca. This is a MAC Pro store(the only one in Toronto, and one of four in all of Canada), which means several things: * you’re likely to stumble upon professional makeup artists rushing in to buy random things like 10 kilos of body glitter * the makeup artists(MUAs) here have way more time for you and can give you lessons, demos, recommend products and chit chat with you, however, lunchtime and immediately after work are the worst times to visit. * you can buy eye shadows in pro palette refill pans for $ 13 instead of $ 17. The MAC stores at The Bay don’t sell the refill pans. Bear in mind that LE eyeshadows don’t come in pro palette form. * pigments, including LE ones, are available here. I highly recommend asking for samples — these will last you months and months; then you can decide if you want to shell out for a full size(which I promise you will never get to the bottom of in this lifetime). Some of my favourites are Kelly Green, Teal and Vanilla. : HG products : EYES… Smolder Eye Kohl Stubborn Brown Powerpoint Blacktrack Fluidline E/S in Gesso, Phloof!, Satin Taupe, Paradisco, Carbon, Steamy & Smut Paint in Bare Canvas(superior to UDPP) FACE… Studio Fix Concealer in NW20 Blush in Pinch O’ Peach Blushcreme in Ladyblush LIPS… L/S in Hug Me, High Tea, Marquise’d & Charm Factor(UGH!!! Discontinued!) Lipglass in Prrr TOOLS… 4x &15x Pro Palette #190 Foundation brush #217 Blending brush #242 Shader brush #263 Small angle brush(for eye liner & brows) I avoid their mascaras, false lashes and liquid foundations, Shadesticks and I wasn’t a fan of Penultimate liquid eyeliner pen either. These can all be had WAY cheaper in drugstores or by other brands, and the quality is better. Return six empties(the container, not the box!) and get a free lipstick or eye shadow of your choice! This adds up quickly. I used to see Helen at this location for makeup recommendations but she’s gone now so I’ve started seeing a new dude… I believe his is Ricky. Ask for him!

You have reached the Mothership when you shop at any of the MAC cosmetic stores in Toronto. This location is on one of my favorite shopping streets Queen Street. The street is littered with cute eclectic boutiques. I was able to purchase some MAC lipstick palettes that never made it to the stores in San Francisco. I like the relaxed atmosphere of this location compared to the hectic counters in the department stores.
