I have been a customer of Mad Factory now for two years and have to say John who cuts my hair is amazing! Melissa and everyone that works here is super friendly from start to finish… every time!
The little perks are a huge bonus… mini facial and the offer of a beverage is all welcomed at a much better price than some of the salons I went to in the past.
If you are looking for a great place with friendly and excellent service then give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

I had been a «hair model» for a junior style, Josh. I said that I’d like any color, except for blonde. He colored my hair in a beautiful and funky way that completely exceeded my expectations. It was red, but the vibrant colors were softened by his expertise in dying it under my top layers.
I received many compliments. My hair was in healthy shape even after the coloring because of the high quality products they use too. My hair color lasted me almost an entire year!
It was a great experience and I would recommend anyone who wants to get their hair colored there (I have not tried the cut yet)

I had a WagJag here last year and I remember my appointment vividly.
The reception was very good. They called and reminded me of my appointment and were very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the specifics of my coupon. They were very prompt in follow up about the appointment as well. I just felt like I couldn’t fully tell them truth. Hence, this review.
It was a pretty god deal: $ 100 for a cut and colour

Mad Factory is bringing the funk back to Mount Pleasant. It’s very trendy and white inside. The staff are very welcoming. That said, my colourist literally did not talk to me the whole time I was getting my hair done. It was really awkward. On top of it, a massage was included in the package so it was even more uncomfortable because here is this guy massaging me without making any repoire. It was a bit weird. Cut to Stephanie who is the opposite of Josh and she’s chatty mcchatterson.
THE SERVICE
Both did a good job on the colour and the cut –initially. Steph did a great blow out but it did not last. Alternatively, my blow out at Blo Dry Bar has lasted me two days. The cut really did not turn out well at all. It was the equivalent of something at First Choice. No body. No shape. Not good for the cost that they’re charging.
I was at an event two months later and I had two salon owners from Evoke cut my hair DRY and they did a better job of layering it and making it last.
What is an extra that you get here is some champagne. This is a plus but maybe it makes you forget about the bad cut?
If you’re looking for something basic, this is a good bet.
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
I was a bit, er, mad about my cut not growing out very well. Though MadFactory has some great marketing (and bumble and bumble product), due to the awkwardness of Josh and the cut not growing out properly, I wouldn’t return here and go to my old faithful stylist who has more experience in what works for my hair.

I just had my first appointment at Madfactory Boutique Salon and went with an open mind as I find, you can’t trust just anyone with your hair. I thought I’d give them a try b/​c they had a deal on WagJag and being in the neighbourhood they are in, I thought they had to be decent. Well, I was right about «you can’t trust anyone with your hair.»
I got my hair coloured, cut and blowdried. The package I got with the WagJag also included a scalp massage and hand massage. The scalp massage was getting my hair washed and I never did receive a hand massage. The hair colouring was done by Josh and I explained how I wanted the colour to blend with my hair and keep it the same colour but hide the greys — I did not want it darker. I find it hard to tell the colour when your hair is wet coupled with their lighting in the salon. Also I was in a hurry once they dried my hair, as I had to be somewhere else. It wasn’t until I came home to have a closer look that I was thoroughly upset and horribly disappointed! My hair went from a cappuccino colour to black — WTF?!
Also, I hated the way my hair was styled where with every strand the stylist Stephanie sprayed hairspray on it. Isn’t hairspray so ’80’s/’90’s and isn’t it used a finisher vs. with blow drying? I didn’t make a fuss b/​c that can always be washed out, but the hair colour is a disappointing pain in the a#$ to correct!!!
I think Josh and Stephanie are respectively a junior colour technician and stylist, hence the WagJag promos to increase their client base. They were nice individuals but if you don’t mind being disappointed then go ahead and see them at Madfactory. Not for me ever again!

Fantastic salon, a real gem. Madfactory pays attention to all the little details, and gets them right. Most importantly, the stylists are real pros, they know their craft. I’ve enjoyed consistent results every time.
