I’ve just picked up a few items from Moberly’s and once again experienced a poor reception from the staff. I’ve really tried to like this place, its close by and reasonably priced but every visit is the same. The staff aren’t outright rude, they smile, but they just dont care about me as a returning customer. I feel as though I’m a bit of an inconvenience for them… they really don’t care if I’m there or not. The woman at the cash register today (don’t know her name… long hair, wears glasses) didn’t acknowledge me, didn’t say hello, just watched me pay for my groceries and instead of helping me pack up those items reached over me to serve the customer behind me. Actions like that all the time and i see that I’m not the only one who has experienced this. I won’t bother returning anymore.

Moberly is great. They don’t carry a huge amount of expensive organic produce. They carry a few basics, like sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, oranges, potatoes, ginger, avocados, bananas, squash etc. Nothing too fancy. A few types of tofu and cheese, some frozen goods. They carry some supplements, some cleaning products, some personal products, and a decent number of dry bulk items like beans, grains, nuts, spices, and flours. Nothing fancy, like I said. Just good basics and really good prices. And the kindness and good attitude of everyone there is just out of this world. I go out of my way to support them, and I sincerely hope they last. Terrific little store.

Such a huge fan! I love having a shop like this within my neighborhood. The store is alway really clean — and neat, stock is easy to find.
They carry fresh organic, organic bulk foods, and brands like Rowe farms (hotdogs are great!) Harmony organic milk, Hewitt’s Dairy (chocolate milk do goood), Alexia fries (waffle fries must try) & my new fave Stahlbush frozen fruit & veggies. You would think that with brands & quality like this, they would be line priced with the larger premium stores (think Big Carrot, Whole foods) but that is not the case. This shop is priced below those others!
But what will keep you coming back are the owners & staff! I almost hate saying staff — you feel like you are visiting friends at work when you go in! Everyone is greeting with a smile — most by name. Super helpful!

The staff here are always very kind and greet you when you walk in. Everything is clean and organized. The selection is good, and they’ve recently expanded their refrigerated section. As far as health and specialty stores go, this place is much more reasonably priced than most and makes it possible to shop there. I don’t do all of my shopping there, but I get quite a bit.

Since I last reviewed this business, they’ve moved across the street to a larger space, and renamed to Moberly Natural Foods, and they are even better. One of the cleanest and best organised health food/​bulk food stores I’ve ever been in. Good prices too.

Lovely place in my area with a wide gluten free selection. They’re very friendly, very helpful and I’ve always been able to find what I was looking for — I agree with them being pretty strict about their opening hours as I experienced the same.

I’ve been trying to figure out why I don’t like this place. I was excited when I discovered it in my area — saves me a trip to Carrot Common. But the experience at Moberly as a whole leaves a lot to be desired.
The selection is sparse — it is a small store, so that really can’t be helped. It can’t compete with Carrot Common in terms of selection. They do carry Bubbies, which is a huge plus.
What it comes down to is the staff. They simply rub me the wrong way, and the only way I can describe it is that they seem to cultivate a demeanour of aloofness, or «you should be grateful we grant you the privilege of shopping in our fine store». Even when they are friendly it comes across as disingenuous.
Now this is entirely subjective because I’ve read the other reviews which seem to be unanimously gushing with praise. Perhaps there is some other unconscious reason why I loathe going to this place (which I only do if I’m too lazy for the trip to Carrot Common). The reviewer «Steve B» seems to get it. His review encapsulates the something’s-off-here attitude I see whenever I shop here.
A caveat — the black guy who works here (sorry, don’t know his name) is the saving grace — he’s really helpful and genuinely friendly. They should clone him, or ask him for some personality improvement tips.

This store is great. I was very impressed with their selection. Its clean and the staff is very nice. I will definitely be returning.

Okay, so in the grand scheme of things, this is trivial, but…
I was walking by the store, remembered I needed coconut. Checked my watch: it read 6:00 on the dot. I checked if it was still open. Yay, it was. Walked in, was halfway down the store when a pleasant young man came walking toward me, and politely and nicely informed me that the store was closed. So disappointing. I thought couldn’t you just have lock the door… maybe. There were no others behind me, and just one other customer who was at the cash register. But that obviously was not going to happen.
Talked to the owner a couple of days later, looking for some sympathy. He explained that in the past, too many customers had taken advantage of their «kindness», said they would take just a minute, and were still there 20 minutes later.
Look, I get that. Used to work in a grocery store. Just wanted to get home, and I resented people who showed up at one minute to six.
Anyway, I have only occasionally stopped in to buy, so like, they’re not going to miss my business. But somehow I think the situation could have been handled differently.
But then, I am not under the pressure of trying to make a go of a business.

Great bulk and organic store, we go there all the time to stock up on nuts and dried fruit. They also sell yoghurt and milk (even goat milk) in reusable glass containers that you can return — great for the environment. They just moved across the street, and expanded. Very friendly and knowledgable staff.

The new store is awesome! Affordable, eco-​friendly, and chic without attitude: a winning combination! Owners and staff are always helpful and appreciative of their customers. I’ve been shopping at Better Bulk for at least two years and I’m impressed with the quality of their goods and how responsive they are. Selection is getting better and better. The owners have added a number of items to their regular orders that I have requested! It’s great to have a bulk store that carries mostly organic and locally sourced food in the neighbourhood.

I love these guys! They have everything you’d want in a health/​bulk food store and if they don’t, they will always be open to ordering a new product!
They really go out of their way and the products that they offer are different than the mass market grocery store items.
They are moving into a bigger and better location right across the street in November. This has to prove that they are serving their community well!

Definitely a welcome addition to the hood – especially that they stock even more Ideal coffee. Only minus is lack of parking; it’s tough to find a place on the Danforth sometimes. Ditto on the friendly helpful staff.

…and it’s also beans, and fruit, and spices and more!
Affordable prices, clean store, a focus on whole and wholesome products: shopping at Better Bulk feels good and… is good for me.
Case in point: I hustled home to make an almond milk smoothie with my newly purchased cacao nibs and other finds. Rarely do my shopping experiences end with that impulse.
People sensitive to gluten, wanting natural options, prioritizing organic, or looking for canned goods without BPA lining (‘sup, Eden Organics!)…Better Bulk is a great place to start. Hey, maybe I’ll meet you there: look for me by the bin of raw cashews.
Unilocal note: Better Bulk also has a blog profiling new products, sharing the occasional recipe, and highlighting current sales. I really appreciate this touch, knowing about sales in advance of making the trip to 2035 Danforth. Double points and karmic high fives for the store’s commitment to not just individual, but community, wellness.

Great little store with a good selection of quality food and gluten free items. The staff are really nice too! Glad to have this little store in my neighbourhood.
I would stop here more often if parking were easier for a quick stop on my way home from work.

I love this place. I started by getting my bulk stuff there, but everytime I checked out, the total was under $ 10. I thought about another bulk store that used to be in the neighbourhood and how it didn’t survive and thought «I don’t want this to happen again». So I starting thinking about what else I could buy there. I now get my eggs, milk, cheese, chicken, sausages, tofu, yogurt, veggie burgers, canned tomatoes and many other things there. When I heading to a grocery store, I start by going to Better Bulk and get whatever I can here. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the brands they offer. Utopia tomatos, for example are way more expensive at the Big Carrot than they are here. The staff are very warm and friendly and the music is good. I hope this place will be around for a long time.

Okay so when I walked into this store with my friend she immediately said: this is my friend Niki and she’s gonna give you a good review!!!
Now, yes I can admittedly say that I felt pressure now to deliver a favorable review whether it was true or not — but lo and behold — this little bulk store is actually pretty awesome!
Now, I can’t say that I know a lot about organic fair trade blah blah food (I get my chicken from Chinatown dammit) but everything in the store was really well organized, and everything seemed really fresh. I particularly liked the dehydrated goodies like the apple slices and the papaya. As well the guys in the store are super friendly and helpful — I’m sure that if I did have any questions while I was bumbling around the store looking at the baby stuff they would have been more than knowledgeable.
I also picked up these yummy microwaveable Indian side dishes (on the store clerks recco) that inspired me to make an Indian meal for my hubby who said: What is this? Naan? Does naan have sugar on it? WHAT IS THIS?!
God he loves me.

I am SO glad this place is in the hood. It is an oasis in a desert.
The selection is not large, but is carefully chosen to provide really nice brands and quality of bulk foods, e.g., Ideal Coffee and bulk granola that tastes fantastic. The prices are lower than many standard grocery stores, so there is simply no reason not to go here, and there is something for everyone. The staff is really friendly, too. There is a great vibe about this place.

So I heard my neighbourhood was getting some sort of specialty bulk store (ahh, the power of Twitter) but I was not aware it was opening up on the other side of my apartment building. This is a good thing as it means I don’t have walk far to find it (the power of Google failed me — could not find its address online).
They specialize in all things organic… chocolate covered almonds are organic, right??? In any case, their junk food section is small and that’s a good thing. They focus on different pastas, dried fruits, flours, tea, coffee and a pantload of other stuff.
Now, there’s no way it can rival The Bulk Barn in size or quantity but the quality of their product is top notch (so say I as I snack on some honey-​roasted pecans). Plus, it’s a great addition to this neighbourhood and give it time, it may become a solid staple… oh and the owner is super nice (and cute — teehee)!
