Bar sympa pour sa terrasse et ses soirées Karaoké. Ideal pour les groupes, et petit tuyau pour les frenchies: c’est un repère d’étudiantes canadiennes donc si vous vous sentez d’humeur casanova… ^^ Nice bar for the patio and karaōke nights. Good place for groups and little advice for the frenchies: a lot of canadian students come here so if you feel in a casanova mood… ^^

We shared a chilli chicken penne, potato leek soup, tortilla apetizers and 3 keiths. Total bill came to $ 35(they forgot to charge us for one of the keiths). soup — 2 stars tortilla sour cream appetizers — 4 stars chilli chicken penne — 2 stars and you know what a keith’s tastes like. so, we waited for 20 minutes and finally everything but the penne arrived. my fiancé went up to the waitress asking her about my entrée. she said that the original server hadn’t entered it in. no apology, just a it-was-probably-your-fault tone. then, as my fiancé returned to the table, the 2 servers began discussing in loud tones that neither had heard the order… we were probably lying. the first server was making really rude remarks about us. WECOULDHEARTHEM. also, the first server was sitting there having a beer cuddling up to a customer. was he on break? mayhaps but this is not junior high. you apologize for making the mistake, offer a free drink or reduction on the bill. even an apology would be nice.

After hitting the Kensington Market on a Sunday morning we found ourselves at the Free Times Café — from which we quickly left. The brunch crowd had taken over and the crying 6 year old was the kicker. So we walked along College and decided to hit up a pub and found Molly’s. Although primarily there for a Guinness breakfast(and a Sunday Caesar for the missus — only $ 3!) we hit the menu. While the joint is a college pub at it’s pubbiest(everything worn down, creaky floors, grafiti in the upstairs washroom, thrash metal coming from the kitchen occupied by a green Mohawk’d cook — and they’ve got a pool table too!) the menu selections were perfect. Went with the Chicken club which was a triple decker, with fresh bread, plenty of chicken, fresh bacon and the perfect amount of mayo. The hand cut fries were seasoned and too good, really. I assume they have a poutine on the menu and with those fries it must be worth a 2nd visit. The missus had the Chicken Fingers which were of the frozen variety but large and tasty. The server was the shaggy haired bartender dude who was efficient, polite enough and performed the basics, but did it well. Loved the place, looking forward to getting my drink on there some night.

My second Thursday here(after class), and this time I knew what to order! Bar rail drinks are $ 3.06 on Thursdays! Yes, this is a chain bar/pub. Yes, it is hella ugly inside, and often plays music so loud you can’t talk to your friends… but on the plus side the patio is good, service is decent. There is nothing fancy to eat here, it’s bar food, but the portions are large. I tried bites of the wings, fries and taco salad, and all were good. Worth it in the summer if you’re near U of T.

I would go here again for the cheap(and good) food & the company. Good hangout for university students! Go here with university friends for munchies & pool. +/-A lot like«every other campus bar» but still really good.

Great service, fine place, will go back. We used an Entertainment 2010 coupon for BYGO freeo entre after a grad class Tuesday night a couple months ago. Service was very fast and friendly. I felt a little old at age 28 in suits and we both only wanted diet pepsi but the waiter was a great guy. Nice to get back to real students working hard for their tuition money, they actually care when they have a purpose not like a random 17 year old bimbo’s you find at most restaurants. I have an Entertainment 2011 coupon and will be back. Menu is basic but its fine with us to avoid eating dinner at 10:30 at night those days.

Molly Blooms(or Mollys) is a 3⁄5 kind of place as a whole. It’s a pub/bar near the U of T campus, which obviously attracts many students. Here are my thoughts in categories 1) TV’s I think pubs/bars should have TVs. Many of them, and big ones. I think Molly Blooms satisfies this category quite well. There are a plethora of TV’s on the first floor, right behind the bar, as well as scattered around the floor. One the second floor, there are also about 5 tvs. I’d say that no matter where you sit on the second floor, you are bound to be able to see what’s going on the screen. They’re also nice flatscreen ones. I guess a good example of the popularity of this pub when it comes to games would be the World Cup 2010, and Gold Medal game for the winter olympics of 2010. Both were packed! 2) Food I say Mollys food is pretty mediocre, to not good. The only good meal are the nachos, the burger, or the fries. Horrible wings. On top of all that, they are all overpriced. 3) Drinks You want something — they have it. And the bartenders are pretty knowledgeable about making drinks so don’t worry if you want some weird drink that you think no one has heard before, because they’ll know how to make it. Drinks are reasonably priced. 4) Service The service at Mollys is hit or miss as well. Though I haven’t really encountered bad service, it’s not always particularly quick if you have some waiting you. Additionally, I’ve had some friends complain about rudeness, but I think the service is ok. 5) Atmosphere Depends when you go. Karaōke night, which is a big reason my friends and I came to love this place over the years, is a good atmosphere, especially during the summer. It happens every Monday. Other than that, I’d say it’s a normal pub in the sense that its atmosphere depends on games happening that night, or the day of the week(or since it’s close to campus, who has a birthday there from U of T). As a U of Ter, it was the best place to go because while it’s not Cheers where«everybody knows your name», you’ll definitely run into quite a few folk who do. 6) Layout Pretty bad. The first floor is packed, even when there aren’t many people there — because everything seems so cramped. While it adds to the atmosphere, it also takes away from the liberty of freely moving around, or even getting back into your seat. Also, one pool table? I mean I guess we should be lucky they even have one… but come on. For a place this big, you gotta have two. Lastly, it’s in a good location. 3 minute walk from the TTC station, and right beside the U of T campus. It’s also close to china town if you have late night munchies(which you will if you’re drunk).

I visited this place for the first time last night, and I think it’ll probably be my last as well. The prices were not fantastic, that’s true, but that was not the thing that put me off. The worst thing about this place is… THEMUSIC. The whole time we were there, all that was playing were these HORRID honky-tonk country tunes with yodeling crackle-voiced singers. I spent three dollars on the jukebox just begging a one-or-two song break from the music they had playing. I realize that that’s probably their tactic to get people to pay for the jukebox, but I wouldn’t go back there, just because I know I’d have to listen to that and then end up spending even more money just to hear some decent music.(And their jukebox is not even that great, to be honest) They’ve got a couple of TVs around, so it’s probably a good place if you want to watch a game or something. Our waiter was pretty nice as well. But those are the only positive things I can think of to say about this place. I wish we’d headed somewhere cheaper and with a better atmosphere.

Over my 4 years at U of T, this has been my pub of choice. No more, though. This place has gone downhill. It must have changed hands or something. It used to have delicious and cheap food. But doesn’t look like that way anymore. I got the steak sandwich the other day, which USED to be made of a nice juicy piece of steak inside of a bun. Instead I received an an under-cooked french loaf stuffed with SLICEDPIECESOFSTEAK, and topped with some nasty cheese. There was barely any meat inside the bun! It was basically like the kind of meat you’d throw on a taco. Absolutely disgusting. And to top things off, my drink had a nice long hair hanging from the side of it. I brushed it off and kept drinking, but damn, I don’t think I wanna go back here until they clean up their act.

A three star Irish Pub that gets an extra star for having an uncrowded patio and friendly staff. I went here on a Dealfind voucher, which was accepted without confusion. I had the Bloomin’ Burger or something like that. It’s a pretty imposing stack of meat and bun. It’s a little hard to get all of that meat in your quivering mouth and it’s ultimately more of a visual tease than a satisfying explosion of flavor. Fries are done up nicely. The beer on tap is meh. They have a real throwback to my childhood: Labatt 50( ) on tap. For some reason it’s not available on the patio but from a bar up stairs. The waitress commented it’s quite popular with the kids these days and kind of retro. Go looking for a case of Brador( ) in your gramps basement and fire up ebay. Not sure what this place is like when the UofT is back in swing but in summer it seems like a quiet unhurried place, easy to get to from downtown via the street car or swinging around the Yonge line up to Queen’s Park station.

MB’s is a laid back Pub if you wanna drink and study or converse with friends without having to scream. There’s also a few TV’s for the guys to watch the games. Prices are reasonable as is the service. Try the Watson Wings(suicide hot). It’s super hot, but very delicious. They left my lips numb for 30 minutes but the flavor was sooo good.

Molly’s is/was the go to bar for the last few of my undergrad years, and it still continues to be popular amongst students. It’s very close to the UofT campus and provides ample room especially if you have a large group coming in for a birthday or event(you’re able to call and book the upstairs area free of charge for groups). They have 1 bar per floor, large flat screens everywhere making it a great spot to catch a football(I mean soccer) game or even a Gold Medal game. It brings out large crowds for sporting events like that and the atmosphere is great and the service is surprisingly efficient given the busy conditions. Prices are higher than what a «campus bar» should carry, there are other bars a few minutes walk on either side of College St that are cheaper on the drinks. The food like Payam mentions is hit or miss, some of my favourites are the nachos and wings. I would not recommend you get the fish and chips, and if you must stick with just the one piece of fish as it’s a massive piece(does not look appetizing) coupled with a horde of fries! I was very hungry the day I ordered 2 pieces and could not bring myself to finish the dish and was left feeling very unhealthy and wishing I ate greasy nacho’s instead. Other items on the menu are all OK from what I’ve had so far, burgers(I’m a sucker for mushroom swiss burgers), pies, bruschetta, sweet potato fries etc none of them stand out as an experience, but I would still recommend most items on the menu. One big reason that me and my group of friends used to visit this place is because of Monday night Karaōke, used to be a weekly event for some of us. They did in the last year go through a redecorating/renovation and the popular opinion is that this was not a good change. A purely seating area is now divided to high bar stool tables and a large new bar downstairs. A lot of us were disappointed as this moved karaōke upstairs and it’s not been the same ever since. One reason(or so I hear) for the new look is they wanted to install washrooms downstairs because as it stands right now, the only washrooms are up a narrow and relatively steep flight of stairs(not good when you have drunk college kids running around). However until they convert the old downstairs bar to a washroom, Molly’s gets a big thumbs down from me in terms of interior space layout. I’m not a big pool player but I think they have a free pool night, if not the one pool table upstairs is pretty cheap for a game, they also include a fooseball table, random arcade games and a pinball machine. They have a patio though and it’s good for people watching on College street. A pet peeve of mine here is that almost every night you have to wade through groups of smokers huddled at the top of the stairs by the door to get in. A few OK, but when you have over ten people crowding around it does not give me a good start to a night out. The staff are friendly and give a very casual feel, I would recommend Molly’s if you want a large group event at a typical bar, to get into a good sporting atmosphere(even though it’s not officially a sports bar) during a big game. If you’re a student and looking for a cheap drink, maybe not the best place for you.

Molly is actually a 3.5! The food is hit and miss… the platters(wings, nachos and I don’t know if Bruschetta can be mentioned!), are not the greatest but they do have a very tempting and unfinishable-even-with-2-hungry-people poutine! The drinks are over-priced, but the service is generally good and they are actually nicer to groups(a rarity with the actual waiters!) The bar gets an extra 0.5 for showing soccer(champion’s league and other important games). The other bars should learn… show the world game and people will cometh
