Motoretta

My wife and I have had quite positive experiences with this place. She purchased her Honda PCX 150 from here and four drops later we were back for a serious rebuild which they handled amazingly well. All the body panels were replaced with custom parts we had ordered from a company in Taiwan. Motoretta handled everything for us. New rear shocks, new handles and seat. Even some programable LED under lighting (she wants to be visible/​safe at night). The Taiwan company misrepresented what we would get which is why there is still one white part — but Motoretta advised us it just came in so we should have the bike finally finished. For me, Doug has been extremely helpful getting my new (to me) old Ninja street worthy again. Sadly one week later I have to hand it back as some Expletive! backed into it while it was legally parked. I’m waiting for parts but I trust this place to do the work needed professionally.
Very friendly and good people here.

Took advantage of the huge rebate Honda was offering and which Motoretta expanded upon and purchased my first NEW bike! Amazingly happy to have purchased my new Honda CBR 300R from Motoretta

I had been considering buying a scooter for a little while when I stopped in one Sunday afternoon. Don’t let the really cool merchandise fool you. This is a serious bike shop. I met with Clyde who was really helpful. He took his time and told me everything I needed to know about scooters. The rest of the staff are really great too. They make you feel really welcome and even offer you snacks and drinks while you browse. And if you are looking for cool clothing etc., don’t let the bikes parked out front fool you. The have an awesome selection of clothing, bags, and more.
I ended up buying a Honda PCX 150 that I’m really happy with. I almost can’t wait to bring it back for maintenance.

The people here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I love their selection of clothes and they have a lot of bikes and scooters to choose from. They seem like great people as well. It is the right and duty of every young urbanite to covet the shiny, elusive (to some) Vespa scooter. We have stores like Motoretta to constantly remind us of this fact.
The presence of this business in my very own neighbourhood was what initially alerted me to College St.‘s modicum of slickness. There they are, lined up in a candy-​coloured row, in a decidedly delicious manner– bright lights, and a minimalist décor to highlight their lusciousness. And that is what they are to browsers like myself: a treat for the eyes, and little more.
There is that unmistakable motor-​y smell that I don’t encounter too often, and then the more artistic side of scooter-​ism: the accessories. Along with some pretty cool framed prints and little mini figurines and such, Motoretta carries clothing brands like Ben Sherman, Fred Perry and those higher-​end Adidas items. Like any respectable boutique, the choices are small and consequently exclusive; a few sweaters folded on a steely-​looking table, some well-​lit polo shirts beside it.
What I like: they sometimes have ridiculously-​awesome sales, the current one being about 70% off fall apparel. This may not be the right venue to declare such things, cuz no doubt it is over or close to– but the guy *did* urge me to «tell my friends». Also to tell: about my new super fly Adidas purse– the «Steffi Graff» model!- which I got for 20 bucks. It makes me feel active, just like I’m sure your scooter makes you feel cool. And probably European.

Yesterday was designated Scooter looking day. The plan: to hit up as many Scooter shops in the Toronto area. First stop, Motoretta on College Street.
You really can’t miss this store if you are looking for it, as they have a bunch of Scooters parked outside. This is the first scooter shop we hit downtown, so we were really the uneducated folks trying to soak up as much information as possible. Well, we picked the best place to do that.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions and asked us a lot of questions to probe into what kind of scooter would work best for us. After the initial introduction and question answering period, they got a little overbearing. Overbearing in the sense that they acted too aggressive in trying to make the sale.
They knew this was the first store we went to, yet tried to use car salesmen techniques to get us to buy («these are on back order, we aren’t going to get any until next March», «it’s a good time to buy now», «this is the last one»). Even after we had thanked them for their time, and we were just going to look at the rest of the store for colors and different models and such, they continued to hound us.
I’m not saying they were not helpful, they were extremely helpful, but it got to the point where it felt like all they were concerned with was making the sale. Our objective, as we mentioned to them wasn’t to buy one right away, but to look around and get a feel for prices and different models/​features.
This is a great store to come to for information, and if you’re ready to buy, I’m sure the staff will be more than accommodating. As I learned, don’t take everything they say at face value. Go and do some research at other scooter shops.
