Mr & Barber Lounge

Friendly service and great cuts here! The entire family makes a trip here every 6 weeks for a trim. Lin is awesome with colour and Sam gives my husband and kids cool cuts. They can get pretty busy on weekends so give them a call before going. If you want to see their work, they have a gallery of ‘before and after’ photos on their Facebook page.

I was driving along Eglinton one afternoon and some new signage caught my eye that said «Grand Opening — Fades, Haircuts…» It immediately caught my attention because in the five years I’ve been living in Yonge and Eglinton, I have not found a decent place to get a fade. I’ve visited Atlanta Hair Design numerous times, but the experience was often frustrating. The barber would either be late, or a no-​show. When I finally did get my hair cut, the quality was average at best. To make matters worse, it was more expensive than any shop I’ve been to ($ 20 plus tax, plus tip).
The sign at MR & Barber Lounge said $ 16. I Googled it, but came up with no hits. I figured for $ 16 it was worth a shot, and I’m glad I took it. The barber, Malik, cut my hair and he knows his stuff. He was very meticulous, but he wasn’t slow. He took his time to make sure he perfected his work, and I could tell he takes pride in his craft. I appreciated this because a lot of barbers want you in and out of the chair as fast as possible so they can keep their line moving. This is understandable, but not a lot of barbers in my experience can be efficient and maintain a high level of quality. Malik even takes the time to explain his process to me, and why he uses certain clippers over others when cutting my hair. I’ve had barbers who started cutting my hair before even asking me what I wanted.
The shop is located right beside the Sherwin Williams paint store. It’s easy to miss because the strorefront is rather narrow. There’s parking behind the store or on the street (it’s free after 6 pm on Donlea, or free for 1 hour during the day). The shop is brand new, and it’s always clean.
I’ve been to MR & Barber Lounge a couple of times now. I’m extremely pleased that it’s very accessible and staffed with competent barbers. It’s definitely my go-​to spot for a haircut now.
