I’m easy when it comes to billards. I just need a decent cue stick, clean tables, any sort of lighting and I’m fine. New Times gives me an old school pool hall vibe. It’s sort of rundown, dimmly lit, but large in space and enough tables to never have to wait upon arrival. Best of all, it’s pretty cheap– I think they have a Tuesday or Wednesday special and also specials for earlier on in the day. I usually pay around 7 bucks a visit and I get enough play to satisfy my sharking needs. The entrance is easily missed, it’s small, dark and is followed by sets of stairs. I assure you, you’re in the right place– all sketchiness aside.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’ve been here several times for their Sunday to Thursday pool special(like $ 15 for 3 people to play or $ 20 for 4 people to play unlimited time). At my last visit, one of the guys(probably the manager) there pissed me and my friends off. I went there with 2 friends to play pool, a little later another friend joined us and said he just wanted to watch and not play. So there were 3 of us playing and 1 friend watching. When we left we paid the guy $ 15 and he said its not $ 15, its $ 20 for 4 people. We argued with they guy… he basically said no one can come in to watch and that hes still charging us $ 20 for 3 players and 1 spectator… I was ready to walk out on him but my friend decided to pay him just to avoid further argument(my friend really shouldn’t have paid — I told him!).Before I left, I told the guy there that what he was doing was no good and I promised him that I wasn’t coming back there. It was disappointing, we went there so many times in the past — okay experiences previously, and we would have gone back there many more times so the guy would have made $ 15/$ 20 several more times but just because he was greedy for $ 5 more, he lost my business. I’m not going back.
