Why did we come here??? Why did we think it would be anything better than tryst?(The club that was there before) So much no in one night. How do two hot girls go in during any club rush’s prime time and leave within 20 minutes(that’s including a washroom use)??? Ask orchid, because they nailed it. Same vibe as tryst, except perhaps 2% better. The lighting is red-toned now compared to the blue back then. Bars are empty because nobody’s drinking. Crowd is hella weird, and even trying not to be judgmental. I don’t even know how to categorize. There were Korean fobs, Sikh men prowling the dance floor(which was empty af even approaching 12am), and 2 types of white girls — one wearing jeans & runners and the other that would star perfectly in the music video ‘selfie’ by the chainsmokers. Oh, and there’s me. I was so uncomfortable by it all, plus the weird rap music that tried to turn into EDM but instead changed into a low and slow ballad. I left at 11:45 because I ain’t about it– coat check girls were super friendly though and I didn’t have the heart to tell them that this club sucked as they asked me why we were leaving so early. Bouncers were nice too.

This place was really nice on the inside. Staff from the doormen to coat checkers to bartenders were very friendly. That matters to me because nightclub experiences could go the opposite way as in rudeness from the beginning to the end. This particular night Lil Jon guest appeared and DJ’d! He brought lots of energy to the crowd! The crowd was very diverse and the music was primarily Dance/EDM all of which I really liked! If I ever visit Toronto again Orchid will definitely be at the top of my list for night life.

Went here for Halloween. The dance floor is small(and bright) but the crowd was fun.

It was Saturday night in the city and I remembered that Tryst was recently given a makeover. It’s now called Orchid and you can tell they were aiming for a more upscale, young professional vibe. They nailed it. I was slowly losing interest when it was constantly packed with ratchet first time club goers but now Orchid is the place to be. The overall ambience was great and the DJs were spinning big hits. Definitely give the new Orchid a go fellow Unilocalers!
