Parlour Salon

I was thinking of cutting my long hair into a shoulder length bob for awhile. It had been years since I even had a trim :/​A friend of mine recommended Nathaniel at Parlour. Her hair always is so gorgeous so I took her recommendation to see Nathaniel and I could not be happier: D
Nathaniel is very friendly and professional and listened to exactly what I wanted and boy did he deliver! My new hair cut is exactly what I wanted. I feel like Beyoncé.

Never written a review before, but they are awesome! One of my best hair cut and colour and I use to get my hair done in Montréal. Was a little pricey but well worth it, plus I have long hair I guess. Anita and Sarah were wonderful.

This is my first review ever and I just had to give Parlour East a major shout out. I just got back from getting my hair completely SLAYED by RYAN! I told him about the issues I’ve been having with my hair and that I wanted to keep the length and that I wanted volume. He heard me out, gave me his opinion, and trimmed and styled my hair to perfection. I’m a very satisfied customer and will definitely be returning. If you’re considering getting a trim or a drastic change, I highly recommend this salon, and ask for Ryan!

I’ve been coming here for a while now, and finally decided to write a review. Finding a hair stylist is such a frigging chore, and although Parlour East is quite the hike from my place, I keep coming back because the girls do my hair EXACTLY the way I like it, every single time.
Megan is really sweet and really knows her colour. Apparently I have some really stubborn greys that require a special concoction to cover, and Megan knows how to take care of them. I actually hadn’t exactly picked up on it myself, and Hannah noticed them… Megan immediately went to work on fixing them up, insisting that I leave with perfect colour. Also, I’d had a bit of a challenge getting an appointment, and Megan put a note on my file that I should be squeezed in anytime I need my colour touched up. Thanks girl!
Hannah. OH HANNAH. You are simply the best. What I love about Hannah is that she is a perfectionist, and she does EXACTLY what I want. If there is a single, solitary hair that is not perfect (particularly with my bangs), she fixes it immediately. She fusses and fiddles until everything comes out just the way I like it. She’s great with her consultations, and adjusts to accommodate your every desire. She also has a great eye, and vision. I can’t say enough. Just thanks!
Occasionally the person answering the phone leaves something to be desired in the way of customer service, but only if it’s a random person. If it’s Lorena (I think that’s her name!), she’s great. And as a matter of fact, once I came and got my hair done and forgot my wallet (gasp!)… I was super frazzled, and she totally put me at ease, and told me that since I’m a regular customer she had no problem letting me get my services (cut + colour) done and that I could pay later (THANK YOU!!!)
Overall, I highly recommend my girls to anyone… just please don’t make them too busy for little old me! (Selfish, I know!) I can also say that I’ve watched Cheryl do lots of cuts for girls with curly hair (which I hear is difficult) and she always does an awesome job. She really knows her stuff.

I was compelled to write a second review for Parlour because it’s just that amazing. This is Part 2 — and the happy ending — of a story I like to call The Worst Haircut of My Entire Life. For Part 1, refer to my review for Epic Hair Salon in Scarborough (and make sure you avoid at all costs).
For background, I’ve been to Parlour 4 or 5 times now and have never left disappointed. I’ve even had multiple stylists — Hannah, Janice, and today Sean — and they have all done a wonderful job. My visit today was to fix my botched, awkward haircut that looked like a cheap wig.
THE GOOD:
— I love that you can book your appointment online. This salon knows what’s up in 2015. Last night (Friday), I was able to log on and score a 10am appointment for today (Saturday).
— This salon manages to be hip and posh while still making customers feel right at home. I was greeted by the receptionist as soon as I came in, while another stylist took my coat and offered me a coffee or tea.
— My stylist, Sean, was a true hair artist — I knew right away that I was in good hands. He understood my qualms with my hair (it was so heavy and paintbrush-​like at the ends), and recommended the best way to keep my length while still giving it volume and movement with layers. When styling it afterwards, he shaped my curls so perfectly and effortlessly.
— Best of all, after I explained to Sean that I was here to fix a haircut gone horribly wrong, he recommended that I save money by going with a maintenance cut — $ 20 – 25 cheaper than a regular haircut. This was much appreciated and also saved me time — I was in and out in half an hour.
THE BAD:
— I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Parlour. ⁵⁄₅ stars!
Whether you are looking for a trim, dye job or drastic hair change, I highly recommend checking out Parlour.

I love coming here! My first experience was with Cheryl several months ago. It was my first haircut after recovering from chemo. She treated me like a star, and the haircut she gave me was beautiful. Since then I’ve been seeing Nathanial. I’m so happy with him! He is brilliant and I always walk out feeling like a queen.
It takes me a long time to trust people with my hair. I’m so glad I found Parlour East!

Nathaniel did an amazing job on my colour. He is very nice and personable. All teh salon staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!

I went to the Salon 2x this week. Last Tuesday, I wanted to get a haircut really badly but Ryan, my selected stylist said it would be better if we get it done after I get my colour done to keep the hair length — which was today, Friday. I was happy about that because he had the concern but I was wish I was informed on the phone (I called them before coming over). I live 20 mins away. He suggested that we go for a balayage on my next appointment and I mentioned that I want my hair to be light but not looking cheap orange.
I was really looking forward for my colour appointment but due to hunger, I came 10 mins late for my 5PM appointment. It was good, Ryan was able to get rid of my old hair colour, which I really loved but the balayage looked more like an ombré and the worst part was it turned orange rather than blonde. My hair was far from the picture we selected to imitate and I was obviously not happy about it. I only do my hair once a year and I spent a good amount of money at Parlour today.
He explained that what I like could be achieved after another session of colouring and it could have turned orange because of the previous hair colour. I asked on how I can make it more «ashy» but he only suggested the purple shampoo and let the sun do the work and I doubt this. I wish I could have been given a better idea of what to expect. I don’t really know what to feel about this but I’m definitely not happy.
They offered a glass of water but for the entire two hours of being there, I got no water and to top my day off, I got a parking ticket. What a day.

AMAZING! I moved to Toronto about 2 years ago and have had the worst time trying to find a Salon and stylist that would be able to match my stylist back home. I AM SO GLAD I TRIED PARLOUR! I even was able to book my appointment online! From start to finish they were more than accommodating for my schedule and personal needs. My previous salon experience in Toronto was less than satisfactory– having tried 2 other well known names in the downtown area, I felt my appointment was hy — jacked by the stylists visions and I always left with more problems (not to mention a huge bill at the end and not at all what I was asking for).
I came in for my appointment about 5 pm on Friday to meet my stylist/​colourist/​miracle worker Ryan. He was very friendly and positive towards my hair situation which I didn’t realize was in rougher shape than anticipated. I was waiting for the famous speech about colour corrections and to book back more time at a later date but to my surprise Ryan was confident he could work some magic and get me headed back in the right direction and ultimately accomplish exactly what I wanted with my second visit. I was amazed with the results! It turned out even better then we had planned. Also, Since my situation was a little complicated it took more time than expected and he even stayed late to finish. I didn’t feel rushed or like I was inconveniencing him (even tho for a Friday night I must have been). The owner of the salon even stayed to help us with the blow dry. I cannot wait to book back my second appointment. Your in good hands at Parlour.

I have been getting my hair cut by Cheryl since she was in the west end. Love her so much! I also go to Hannah because Cheryl is so busy these days. Hannah is amazing and they both do a fantastic job with my short hair. The only complaint I have is that it’s getting tough to get in to see them!

parlour absolutely the best in the Beach and I have tried them all. Ask for Anita for a fabulous colour and Hannah will give you a cut that will blow you away. I have very thick curly hsir and they do an amazing job and best of all they make it fun. Thanks guys Bronwen

The salon is warm and welcoming. My hairdresser, Sarah, went above and beyond and listened to exactly what I asked for. I’ve had so many compliments on my hair cut and I feel like a million bucks ! I will definitely be going back to see Sarah for my next haircut. She was absolutely lovely. What a great experience ! :)

I’ve had my hair cut here twice by Janice W. Every time my hair has looked AMAZING. I can’t really say much more than that. Somehow my hair has become wash n’ go after Janice got rid of some of the bulk and recommended a great Kevin Murphy product to get rid of frizz (pricey but worth it). I also really appreciate her demeanour. She’s polite and chatty but not overly chatty. I like that she concentrates to get it done and she’s a perfectionist. She’s more expensice as she’s a senior stylist but, again, worth it.
Last time I was there, I also had my hair dyed by a lovely colourist whose name I can’t remember (Jodi?). I decided to get my hair coloured (ombré) last-​minute while getting it cut (so without booking it first), and they made time for me to get it done. Since I hadn’t booked it, they were busy and I had to wait a long time before getting blown out at the end. I didn’t consider this to be their fault but they called me and offered me a free blow-​out for the inconvenience of having to wait.
A+ customer service and vibe. Love this place.

I have been looking for a stylist who knows how to make my wild, curly hair behave for a couple of years now, since the previous stylist I had been loyal to moved to Vancouver. I finally found a new stylist in Cheryl. She was friendly and attentive and gave me an amazing wash and wear cut that really works with my hair’s natural texture and quirks. Bonus: you can find Cheryl at Parlour East where everyone is friendly and welcoming. The space is open and bright and totally unpretentious (I can’t handle snooty salons or stylists). In short, I’m in love, and will definitely be going to Cheryl for cuts from now on :)

Great cut and colour from Tyler! I have wavy hair that I lost control over and was feeling pretty frustrated before I saw him. He gave me tons of useful pointers.
Tyler is a great listener and he’s full of terrific ideas and advice — if you ask for it. He’s not pushy at all.
I did want advice and he was enthusiastic (I got the impression that’s his nature anyway).
His advice was so perfect, addressing any problem areas I had mentioned plus offering fun and insightful alternatives.
Seriously, I felt like a new woman when I left. I haven’t been that excited about my hair for ages. Plus we had so many laughs together. It was fun and worth every penny.

I have one name for people who are in need of a great colourist: Jodi. She listens, is patient and will find the tone/​shade and colour that’s right for your personal style and skin tone. Being as I live in Roncesvalles, and happily travel to this salon just for Jodi, I think that’s a dedication that speaks for itself.

The only woman I trust with my hair has opened the East end Beach version of this salon. I happily followed her out there and found the new space lovely, clean and consistent with the Parlour look on Ossington. I think I like it better than the Ossington space but truth be told Cheryl could cut hair out of the back of a van and I’d give it a good review. That said, the coffee offered was good, the space lovely and bright and the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because it’s really far from my end of town. East-​enders — check out Parlour, you won’t be disappointed!

It was my first visit and I was donating my hair. Cheryl did multiple braids to maximize the donation. I showed her what I wanted and she was able to match the same look except tailored to my hair/​face shape. Loved the new cut and got some great feedback too.
She also listened to my request to get my bangs and sides a little shorter too.
The space was bright, clean and sleek. Lots of magazines to choose from.
