I usually get my hair done in Australia andwas super nervous about getting it done overseas by someone different. I had my hair done today by Jerome and he did an amazing job. .I showed him a picture and explained what I wanted and I’m so happy with the result. .exactly what I envisioned! Would definitely come back if I was in Toronto! And very reasonably priced!

I had my hair done here for my wedding, and I was very happy with the result! No complaints, I got exactly what I wanted, and my hair held all day and all night. I will definitely be returning for my next hair cut/​colour.

I have been highlighting my blonde hair for 6 years and it can sometimes be a gamble when you’re trying a new salon and stylist. Unfortunately my first experience at Prive wasn’t as positive as I’d hoped. I had asked for natural highlights and found them to be stripy and bleach blonde instead. I may have been a bit too picky but after thinking it over I decided to call Prive the next day to see if any changes could be made.
This is where I became very impressed with Prive. They were able to see me that day and Patricia (my new stylist) listened patiently to my concerns. She toned my hair and gave me a few new highlights to limit the stripy look (all free of charge btw). The staff made me feel comfortable and I never felt like an inconvenience or demanding customer which I really appreciated. My new hair looks great!
I was really impressed with Prive’s customer service and will definitely be going back.

Absolutely amazing salon! I don’t event want to call it a salon — felt like a small family and I was invited to their home. I saw Efie and was nervous about trying a new place — I had long hair with no colour in it and was fearful of the hairdressers that always cut it all off and dye it the colour they like. She did my cut and colour. She sat me down and talked me through everything — detail by detail. Asking me what I wanted and was SOOoOo enthusiastic about what she could do. Her love for her job was pouring out and it made me very comfortable in placing my long, virgin hair in her hands lol lets just say when I left, that I LoVeD my hair! From booking my appointment with the friendliest receptionist ever, to the fabulous outcome… I will definitely be going back!

Everyone in this salon is so friendly. The styles here at very fashionable and there’s none of that «we’re so cool attitude». The receptionist is very knowledgeable and friendly. The stylist I had, Tania, was excellent. Really took her time expanding her recommendation and getting my hair just right. Her colour and highlights were great too. I switched here recently (been three times) and it’s been excellent each time. I picked this place based on Unilocal reviews and it is great.

I tried this salon for a trim and blowout and when I called, the super friendly receptionist recommended Kelly. I’m so happy she did! After my fabulous blow out, I returned a few months later to chop my super long hair into a bob. Kelly knocked it out of the park… it looks as fantastic after washing and styling myself as it did when I left the salon. Reasonable price too and the aveda oil head message is fantastic!

Had a haircut by both Tanya and Christina (one of the owners) on separate occasions.
The salon itself is very warm and welcoming, and not intimidating like some salons in Yorkville.
Tanya was incredibly friendly and spent so much time making sure my layers framed my face exactly how I wanted them, explaining everything she did.
Christina gave me a good cut as well, however i did not enjoy her personality as much as Tanya. She seemed very rushed and did not bother asking me about how I wanted my layers.
She gave my hair a good healthy chop, however much shorter than I was expecting.
Highly recommend Tanya!

I love this salon, and have been coming here for a year now to get colour and styles from Effie. Since moving to Toronto a few years ago I kept trying different salons and stylists, and just felt like another number or another client they wanted to get in and out. Effie has always been so friendly and really listens to what I want and always delivers stunning styles. I frequently get complimented on my hair — the style and the colour. I wouldn’t dream of going to anyone else now that I found the salon and the other staff there are very friendly as well.

I have pretty mixed feelings about my experience.
I have very fragile hair that is prone to breakage, so I am very careful about who colours my hair. When I called for an appointment, I asked for their most experienced colourist, ideally a master colourist. The receptionist insisted that I wanted Jherome. I had been on the website and knew that he was listed as new talent I mentioned to her that this really concerned me, and she convinced me that he was a «magician with blonde» and that I would prefer him to any senior stylist. I was pretty hesitant but she convinced me and said that he even does her hair and she couldn’t recommend anyone more highly than him. She booked me with Angie for the cut (pretty basic trim)
Jherome was indeed very pleasant and personable, and listened to all my hair concerns. Things went well until I was sent to Angie for the cut and blow dry. As she was drying my hair, I could see that there were several areas where it still looked like I had about 1 cm of dark roots! Since I had come to get my roots done, I was not so happy with this. Angie pulled Jherome over and he was really nice about fixing it right away. Angie had done a basic trim of the ends when my hair was wet and said that she would look at it again when it was dry to see if it needed any more.
Jherome put some more blonde on the top to cover those roots. He was apologetic and really nice, but I was pretty concerned about the additional damage of putting my hair through 2 processes in quick succession. He offered a complementary treatment to help with the damage.
By the time my color was re-​done, Jherome was with a different client, so a student/​Apprentice? named Kyle washed out my colour and did the treatment. He then gave me a fairly awkward blow out (he seemed really inexperienced). During the blow out, another stylist (I’m not sure, she didn’t introduce herself) came over, and pointed out an area on the side/​back of my head to Kyle and sort of tsked about it. It was clear there was something she didn’t like or didn’t approve of. Kyle agreed with her, but when I asked him what she was pointing to, he said he didn’t know.
That part REALLY bothered me. If there is a problem, this should have been pointed out to me and we could discuss how to fix it. Now I am just wondering what the problem is that I can’t see on the back of my head. It was really sort of de-​humanizing to comment on me as if I wasn’t even there, and to treat me as some kind of teaching example of what not to do. I found it very uncomfortable and by then I just wanted to get out of there.
Angie never did look at the cut again, as she was busy with another client. I was upset and frustrated, and by this time had been in the salon for more than 4 hours, so I didn’t complain and just paid and left. I’m not sure if it was from all the processing, but my hair looked pretty flat and frizzy by the time I got to my car, so I had to put it in a pony-​tail basically right away.
Ultimately, I really like the color that Jherome acheived, but I do have a fair bit of breakage high up on top that I think is the result of bleaching twice. Since my hair is hard to grow and quite fine, this does bother me.
The price was much less than I usually pay for my hair (maybe half what I usually pay) and since I did end up with a really nice colour, I think an argument could be made that this was a good value. However, I wasn’t looking for a value haircut. I’m at a point in my life where my time is more valuable than the money and I don’t really care what I pay for my hair as long as it is done correctly and carefully with good results.
Overall, I like Jherome, and I like the colour, and I would probably give him another chance, if it weren’t for the woman who criticized my hair during my blow-​out and the fact that after an error I was basically placed in the hands of the least experienced person in the place to finish my hair. I felt like a practice model, and I definitely didn’t feel valued by the salon.
UPDATE :
After my bad experience the owner, Marion, called and offered see what she could do to make me happier. She even offered to see me after hours if I would be more comfortable. I’m so glad I took her up on it, as she was AMAZING. She told me that the way I have been highlighting my hair (for 16 years) is too damaging, and that’s why I can never get it to grow. She dyed it using a different technique, which looked gorgeous. I think it’s the first time my bottle blonde hair has actually looked natural, healthy and shiny! I love the colour she did and she also trimmed it and put in a few extensions to make my hair look fuller. I love the way it looks (I can’t stop looking at it!). She’s a true artist. She also gave me some products to help me keep my hair its healthiest. She spent the whole evening with me (until almost 11 pm!) and wouldn’t take any payment. I will definitely be her client as long as I live in TO!

Short and sweet: this salon is amazing! Everyone is so sweet and makes you feel so relaxed upon entrance. Kelly gave me the most perfect set of blonde highlights; I asked for gold/​honey colored natural looking highlights and that’s exactly what I got! Love her. Will definitely be coming back!

I wanted to get my hair trimmed so that I have done some online research and read all the good reviews about this place.
I booked with Effie and arrived 20 minute earlier as this is my my first time being there, I wasn’t sure how long it would take me. The place was busy at the moment. Effie greeted me and the other lady who was waiting (to have her hair colored).
I explained what I expected, Effie totally understood me. She was friendly and warm, trimmed my hair just how I wanted to be done.
I had a very pleasant and satisfactory experience. The charge was reasonable, no big surprise as it was at some other places.
By the way, the coffee they offered tasted the best:-)

I thought I’d already reviewed this place, but I guess not. I love it here. All the women are super friendly and talented and my haircut looks soooo amazing I’ve been showered with compliments the past few days (thanks Patricia) Not to mention the blow dry curls I was given the day of looked FABULOUS (my boyfriend wouldn’t stop telling me) and stayed all night til the next day (thanks to the lovely younger woman with the blonde hair whom I sadly don’t remember the name of)
They even helped me re-​bleach the streak of colour in my hair and re-​apply the blue dye that I’d brought in. Not to mention I also bought a really really great wooden paddle brush too that I love. Sooo it’s all positive reviews (although that day was a blow to my bank account, for all the services I was given and all the time I spent there it was very very reasonable and worth it)

I had a wonderful appointment with Marion (one of the salon’s founders) tonight. I came in for a trim on my very long hair and to get bangs cut in after growing them out for a year, and I left looking and feeling great about my hair. She really listened to what I wanted, looked at the picture I brought in, and then made sure it worked with my hair.
The blow-​out was absolutely phenomenal, by the way. I would highly recommend Prive before a night out! To save time, Marion had another stylist help her with my blow-​out — I felt like a celebrity with two people working on my hair at once!
One thing that really stood out to me was that everyone who worked there was really nice. I have sometimes felt intimidated in high-​end salons, but this time it felt like they wanted me there and appreciated my business; I appreciated their professionalism and courtesy, and the excellent work Marion did on my hair!
For a senior stylist, the price (around $ 75) was absolutely reasonable and less than you’d pay anywhere else in West Toronto at a reputable salon. I was really, really happy with my haircut, my bangs look great, and they offer free bang trims between appointments.

I’m always wary about switching to a new hair stylist because it’s so easy for your «just a trim» to turn into several inches of missing hair. However, after moving to Toronto I knew I would have to take the leap and find a new stylist, and after reading good reviews for this salon I decided to give it a try.
I was booked with Effie for a haircut, and she was very professional and easy to talk to and joke with from the moment I walked in. She offered me a tea or coffee and we went over what I wanted with my hair, and she did a fabulous job! I have very thick hair and I felt like I lost 5 lbs after she was done thinning it. I’m also not usually a fan of how my hair is styled after the cut, but she made it look amazing and I was kind of sad I didn’t have any plans after my appointment to show it off.
The best part is their complimentary bang trims between cuts — they encourage you to come back every 2 weeks and always seem to have time to get someone to trim them right away, so I never feel like I have to deal with bangs in my eyes or have to cut them myself between appointments.

I LOVE Privé! A not-​so-​hidden gem in the heart of the Junction, this salon has quickly become my favourite go-​to place!
The staff are all so friendly, down to earth, and they listen to what you want. My first cut and style was with Tania, my second with Effie and they are both wonderful. I would see either of them again no problem. Both offered complimentary bang trimmings in between appointments and said if I got home after my appointment and something was wrong, I could come back and they’d fix it right away. The staff all seem to really enjoy their work and the people they work with — it’s a great environment!
The salon itself is clean, nicely lit, and nicely decorated. They are a kid-​friendly salon but don’t let that interfere with the mature environment. Pricing is fantastic considering the quality and care. As a student on a budget, I feel very comfortable paying for the services offered here.
They offer curtesy beverages — I always get peppermint tea — obviously. They told me during my last visit that they also offer a complimentary wash and blow-​dry on your birthday (only the day of) with proof of I.D. (call at least a week ahead just to be sure).
The staff are always asking how I am, if I have any questions, etc. and are great to give helpful beauty tips to keep up in between visits. Bottom line: I feel at home at Privé and will continue to go back again and again!

I am in LOVE with this place. I have never had my hair colored properly in a salon. Tonia did my hair yesterday and I explained that I wanted blonde peek-​a-​boos and would not be willing to leave the salon with orangey hair. I don’t usually want junior stylists but this girl was nothing short of amazing. I will never need to risk going to a new place because this will be where I get my hair done for as long as I live within 30 minutes drive away.
First off, getting a short hair cut, you need to get someone good. Shorter hair shows mistakes very easily and it’s harder to correct mistakes because you have less to work with. I chopped off ~9 inches and got a bob. My cut was perfect. I’ve already gotten so many compliments. I will post an update in a few months when I return for an even shorter bob.
My appointment was at 5:15. I don’t mean to set false expectations, but by 7pm, we knew she would need to work late if we bleached my hair a second time and she was so accommodating about it (ended up leaving after 9pm and they close at 8pm. She told me how I had the option of coming back the next day, or she could stay late to help me get the color I wanted and since I was already there, it just made more sense to do it right then. I couldn’t agree more, so we got to it. She got my hair the to the exact color I wanted for my first bleaching session. I will be back to bleach it again, but I knew it would have to be after a month or so.
She took the time to explain how to get my hair healthier. She offered to look into how to get the perm I wanted (picture how awesome your hair looks after using a curling wand/​flat iron to get waves). She was very considerate and took care of all my hair needs.

Fantastic experience. Everyone is warm, friendly and, most importantly, skilled with the scissors.
I have very curly hair and wanted an angled bob. It’s a risky cut. Most hairdressers would say no, but Christina listened, showed me some pictures of what it could look like, and went to work. She’s a genius. I always get my hair straightened after a cut because I can never be bothered to do it myself at home, and while Christina recommended leaving it curly, she did straighten it (I was going to a wedding that weekend). It looked great, but it looks even better curly. I love this new do, I get so many compliments on it.
I can’t thank her enough. Prive Hair Gallery is a gem of a place in the Junction, a real find for curly girls, and the prices are reasonable.

In my new neighbourhood, they’ve gotten rave reviews. One of the reasons I came to check it out was that they give FREE BIRTHDAY BLOWOUTS on the day of your birthday! Call to make an appointment.
I went today because I needed to colour my hair. I loved the option for $ 35 to do just the hair line, if you have greys coming in. Unfortunately, mine were way too long, and I needed to have the full head of colour done.
A full head of colour is one flat rate (unlike some other places that charge you more if you have more hair etc). This is good for me because I’m in the latter end of the hair volume spectrum. Add an extra $ 10 for ammonia free colour which is so much better for your scalp. Overall, it cost me $ 90 including taxes, which I felt was quite reasonable. That included a quick blow dry (no styling)
They sat me down, and got me some tea. Lots of HELLO magazines to pass my time. I felt bad I wasn’t as chit chatty with my colourist as some of the others. I have noticed that sometimes, in new salons, you feel comfortable, sometimes you feel really apprehensive. I was nervous a little, I’m not sure why, perhaps it depends on how comfortable the person working on your makes you feel.
The girl washing my hair did a great job, gave me some tips on styling and everyday maintenance. She tried to make some small talk, but felt patronized a little when she asked me if I was still in school. I know she didn’t mean much by it.
Anyway, back to the business of it all, overall the colour was great. I love the natural balancing shampoo they use, and a very good job in marketing it. I also got some samples.
Found out also that men’s haircuts are around $ 25 – 30 (so reasonable!). And free clean up between appointments, you just need to walk in. My husband remains loyal to his barber, but I hope someone else will check this out!

I went back to Prive after my first haircut, for a colour appointment with Effie. She was great in that she looked at the photos I brought with me to give her an sense of what I wanted, and then she took those ideas and put her own spin on them. She also touched up the haircut that I had gotten with Christine a few weeks prior so that I looked great. I was very satisfied with my colour and the general experience at Prive. Great salon!

Small spot hidden on Dudas, I found this after trying to get a haircut on Evoke like crazy («sorry, we’re booked for the next 4 days»). I don’t have time (or patience) for salons like this, and I decided to give Prive a try.
Amazing surprise. All the girls there are very friendly and first talk to you about who you are, what you expect and what do you do to have a true feeling on what to do with your hair. Then, my hairdresser, Michelle, did a very slow hair cut using all her lifelong experience (she’s been doing this since she was 18!) and kept asking me lots of questions about my personality, and giving me a feedback on what she was doing.
The result was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for: a ready-​to-​go very short cut, slightly asymmetric so it would look more fancy. Great job! I’m totally coming back there.
