I went to Quinn West after reading a couple reviews on Unilocal and it seemed like a good idea. When I was booking my appointment, I specifically asked for a senior stylist. The receptionist guided me towards another stylist who she said was not a senior but assured me that she was awesome. I trusted her and booked the appointment. I got an «ombré» but walked out of the salon with awful, brassy highlighted hair. When I started looking through my hair, I also noticed all the steps (when bleach leaks out of the foils and creates horizontal lines of bleach in your hair). I hated it so much that I called back the next day and asked to have it fixed. The original hair stylist wasn’t available (and I don’t want to go to someone who messed my hair up in the first place) so I had to get someone else to do it. The other stylist was extremely rude and did a decent job of working with what I had but charged me another $ 100. The whole process cost me $ 300 and I had to get it fixed by another stylist (at another salon) about a month later. I was so pissed off after the whole experience, I don’t want to give this salon a star at all. And just a heads up, when I ask for a senior stylist, I expect to get a senior stylist.

Left a message and was called back instantly. The service was very professional. Sabrina was my hairdresser and she did a great job and offered a lot of honest advice while providing a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone.

Service was good but I was annoyed at having to pay such a large sum of money ($ 50) for such a short and basic haircut. Definitely confirm pricing before you book an appointment here!

First time at the salon for layers and bangs on shoulder length, virgin hair. Paula cut the bangs wet (which was scary) and awkwardly had me apply a pomade product that I was unfamiliar with to fix a cow lick. She expressed I could come by in a few days for a bang reshape if they didn’t lay correctly, and I left the salon without much confidence in the quality of the cut. After six weeks, the layers have grown out pretty well, but I won’t return as the salon experience was not as high end as the price of the cut ($ 90.00 with tip).

I was looking for a new place and found Quinn West online. Somehow I managed to get an appt the same day which was major bonus.
When I was stuck in traffic and running late, the friendly receptionist assured me that being 10 mins late would still be ok. Well not only was I 15 mins late but at no time did I feel any rush on the part of my stylist Sabrina who was amazing. She took the time to assess my hair and make some recommendations which were great. I noticed her next appt was in the waiting area before long but she still spent 40 mins cutting my (short) hair — really appreciated that.
The atmosphere at Quinn West is relaxed and it’s a very cool little space. Sabrina has a great personality, very laid back but professional. Highly recommend her! It’s a tad pricey but after the service I received, I’ll gladly go back :)

Love love love this place. Never had better colour or cut and have never had so many compliments about my hair. Erica is amazing with scissors. And it’s always such a chill place, great vibe. The fact that it’s in my hood is an added bonus but I’d travel if I had to. Erica had me rocking a pixie and then it morphed into a kind of Robin Wright thing. She is fab with short hair!

By far the worst experience I have ever had in a hair salon was at Quinn West. I will say that the receptionist was friendly and attentive, fitting me for an appointment later on that same day. However, she told me that for a cut and colour it would be between 130 – 140. I said that was reasonable, walked out and returned on time for my appointment at 6:00. I was offered tea & magazines while I waited in the chair for at least 30 minutes before they began processing my hair. I expressed to them that I wanted platinum blonde hair. I should know better but sometimes I need a little nudge from a professional to say ‘hey, that’s not a good idea. you’re hair is going to fall out’. Low and behold I hardly have any hair left on my head. Instead, she said it wouldn’t be a problem and that it would be totally achievable. My hair is an absolute disaster! I am embarrassed to go out in public right now. The colour is uneven and so is the cut. When I went to pay for it they told me it was 240 which is outrageous. When I expressed my concerns regarding being misinformed about the price, they said I had just received a colour correction which was not brought to my attention until after they ruined my hair. Another fail on their behalf. They tried to console my reservations by offering to fix my hair & other free services. But this is beyond repair until it grows out or I chop it all off. I would rather pay money to get it fixed elsewhere. Not to mention the audacity of the owner of this salon. Such a condescending rude women who really insulted my intelligence. The hairdresser said empathetically to me that she only wanted me to leave the salon happy, the owner mumbled under her breathe ‘well thats not going to happen’ as if I wasn’t even standing right in front of her. She made me feel like my concerns were not legit, when she damn well knew my hair was in shambles. They took a before picture to post on their website and they did not take an after shot. Obviously it’s not work that they are proud of. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Prices a bit high, unable to get me what I asked for (although I never went back to get it fixed, so I take part of the blame), customer service rather friendly.
I’ve now gone twice to this venue, and all-​in-​all, I don’t think it’s right for me. The reason being is I asked for my hair to be cut so that it doesn’t go in my eyes and in my ears, and both times that wasn’t done for me.
Otherwise the service was friendly. I’m a bit used to going to more «affordable» places where they have a set price for a haircut, where-​as this place has a range of what they’ll charge you, so I’m not sure how they determine how much to charge (maybe by how long they worked on the haircut?).
I do kind of like how they sell antiques at the lobby of the venue.
Typically if I wasn’t planning on returning to a place, as is the case for this one, I’d give a 2-​star rating. However considering I didn’t go back either of the 2 times to get my hair fixed the way I initially asked for, I’m giving them an extra star.

Melody did an awesome job with my hair colour. She recommended what would look good on me and made me feel extremely comfortable. Shannon styled my hair to perfection and was just very cool. Both so amazing at their jobs! I would recommend them to anyone.

I felt pretty lucky to have gotten an appointment just an hour and a half after I called on a weekday. The storefront/​waiting area was charming and the receptionist was nice and immediately offered me a beverage.
I had a great experience with the owner Erica Quinn. She was very easy-​going and it was reassuring to see that she had great hair and taste in clothing.
Erica was also very confident and knew exactly how to improve my shapeless thick long hair (even though I had just gotten a cut less than 3 weeks ago). None of her snips seemed superfluous as she took the time to make sure everything was blended nicely. She listened to my requests and offered her own expertise to give me the best cut/​style I’ve had in years. The products used were also quite luxurious.
I’m happy to have paid $ 80 pre-​tip for a professional cut with TLC rather than keep paying $ 50 – 60 for 10-​minute trims.

Update #2: I’ve now no longer a client. After going for a few follow-​up color/​cut appointments, post our initial lightening, I’ve went back to my original stylist. He immediately saw the issue with my color (the «band» of hair color lighter than the rest) & that was fixed pretty fast. I’ve realized the issue at this place is completely inadequate light which made it hard for the stylist to see exactly what the problem with my color was.
Update: I just wanted to add that after seeing Sabrina today (April 11^th) for the correction, I’m left with a much better impression overall. Thank you for making me happy! Both the color and the cut were fixed to my liking!
Contrary to all the previous amazing reviews, my experience was not up to par to my (high) expectations. I have purchased a Buytopia deal for 39 for «cut, color or highlights, deep conditioning treatment, neck and shoulder massage, champagne and chocolates». I also intended to do a color correction at this salon. I have booked a consultation session with Sabrina regarding the process, which went extremely well — we discussed and agreed on the color I wanted to achieve & Sabrina even snipped a lock of my hair to experiment the color correction treatment on. Needless to say, I was going into my appointment with extremely high hopes — sort of really excited to change up my color & having faith in stylists’ work.
We have started off with the color «stripping» process so we could lighten up my very dark brown shade. The treatment didn’t feel uncomfortable but at one point I could hear the girls chatting about the steps of this procedure and one of them told my stylist that she can Google it for her. That was a bit worrying. After the treatment was done, my hair was washed out a few times, and next the new color was applied. By the way, at no point during my 3 hour appoint was I offered water or the massage that my purchase was including. When I asked about the massage at the receptionist desk, she suggested that that it was done while I was getting my hair washed — how can a shoulder and a neck massage be given during the wash beats me.
The coloring part of the appointment seemed to go well — my hair was washed off once again, Sabrina has assured me that it looks nice — from what I could see in the mirrors in the salon light it did look good. Next was my cut appointment with Melanie, who immediately assured me that she loves bobs & loves cutting them as well. I was under full impression that I will leave the salon with a fantastic cut. Well it wasn’t — one side was left longer than the other which I noticed in the washroom mirror and went back to ask for a fix. For some reason Melanie insisted on layering the opposite side of my cut more. After the first fix, I decided to fix my parting and noticed that one side is still longer than the other. My cut was basically done around my side parting — which would mean every time I change the spot where my hair parted, it would make one side longer. By this time Melanie’s next client was waiting and she was seemingly in a rush to finish up with me. From what I could see the cut was fixed. Both girls have told me repeatedly that the color looks great. I’ve looked at my color at both the washroom mirror and the salon mirrors and everything looked good.
Like I mentioned, the massage wasn’t done and neither was the champagne offered. The trouble started when I got home and looked in my mirror — the color was NOT what we agreed on. The roots are now darker and a big section of my hair looks brassy, and it goes back to brown on the ends. It seems that the new color was not able to set in properly to cover all the «stripped» sections. My cut is still not symmetrical, with one side being longer. I have called the salon immediately and we have made an appointment for Thursday to have the color fixed, somehow. To top it all, I think I’m having an allergy reaction to the treatment that I had done to strip the hair of color — the left side of my scalp is numb for 2 days now
All in all I feel very let down — I have forgone the trip to my usual salon because I felt that their charge for color correction was very high, and decided to try out a «deal» place instead. I’ve had much better cuts in the past & my color, well I feel it would look much better if I just asked for a root touch-​up instead.

I came to Quinn West for a colour today for the very first time. This salon is located in Parkdale and is huge. It is very eclectic with cool things that you can purchase. The atmosphere is very welcoming.
Sabrina was assigned as my colourist and spent 20 mins with me discussing what I like, what I don’t like, what would work and how she can fix my previous colour (from a solon on the east end that I went to on the fly)
Communication & knowledge is key for colour. Sabina is my girl every 5 weeks :)

Excellent cut, service, & atmosphere! I’ve finely found my new hair place. :)

I came from the recommendation of some friends of mine and I’m so happy I did.
My hair has been a mess for the past few months. It’s been getting dryer and crazier, and I’ve been trying to grow it out so I’ve been staying out of the salon. I came in and Shannon fixed my hair and told me how I can improve it at home.
Normally I hate bantering with hair stylists. I just find it awkward and forced, but Shannon was super nice and casual, and the conversation just flowed naturally. My hair looks GREAT and best of all… FEELS great. She and Quinn gave me some advice on which salon products I can use that are also pretty eco friendly (apparently my eco friendly shampoo was just frying my hair), and options for less expensive ones I can find at the drug store. Just great service all around. On a HUGE plus, the place smells nice. I find that many salons smell like chemicals and burnt hair. This place didn’t. The products they use smell great, and I kept smelling my hair all day, which I’m sure didn’t seem creepy at all to everyone around me.
It’s definitely worth the trip even if you’re not in the area.
On a fun note, someone in a truck complimented me on how nice I looked 30 seconds after I left the salon. Amazing.

I found Quinn West after continuously asking friends where they got such amazing haircuts, and their answer was always Quinn West. Finally I made the trek to the west, where I met the most amazing stylist Erica, and I haven’t gone anywhere else since.
The best haircuts I have ever had. And a really cool and chill environment. Decorated like a 60’s chic living room, filled with vintage antiques for sale.
