Stumbled upon Rex’s after a day full of TIFF activities and it was the perfect place to end our night. It was an excellent escape from all of the crowds and craziness associated with TIFF. It is small and feels secluded inside, which adds to the charm. They didn’t have my choice of wine – I wanted Pinot Noir – but to be fair, I was definitely stange for ordering wine there in the first place. They also serve food here, which I appreciated even though I didn’t actually order anything. As a fan of hole-in-the-wall and underrated establishments, I am also a fan of Rex’s.

Been there 3 – 4 times. On all occasions the staff was friendly. Service was a bit lethargic though and we werent greeted and seated immediately. Food menu isnt all that great(mind you my visits were a couple of years ago so maybe they’ve changed since then?) but drink menu is decent. Would only visit if im back in the area and feel like having a quick pint. They also have a patio so decent for warm weather I guess.

I have been here twice, both times it was a weekday evening. Both times the ambience was rally nice, the lighting was perfect and the music was a perfect volume. So, I’ll be honest, this is an amazing first-third date spot.(Hopefully I don’t get in trouble with my dates for saying hehehe). I’ll explain why: it has a decent selection of drinks, the laffe brun is very nice, it isn’t too bright, it’s almost the perfect temperature, I think 2° warmer and it would be perfect. It is essentially a great place to enjoy a drink and conversation. Poor bartender though cause it’s not always filled with people. :-)

Best bar in the area, if you are looking for somewhere to have cocktails and/or dinner. They have a nice selection of menu items, with a little something for everyone — I can only rate this restaurant on the drinks, since that is the only reason we came here. We really liked the convenient corner location and atmosphere. Service from our bartender was excellent and so were our cocktails. If we are ever back in this area of Toronto, this will be our«go-to» spot for cocktails.

I was here during the Canada Day long weekend, which also happened to be Pride weekend. It also happened to be the hottest weekend we’d had so far, and this place was packed. We couldn’t find a table on the patio, and ended up inside, which was basically no-man’s-land, because we virtually didn’t have any servers come to us for a good 15 minutes. We probably should have left at this point, but the parade was crossing Dundas Square at that moment, it was hot, and we just wanted beers, so we stuck around. Bad idea. The place was dirty(food on tables, tables uncleared, food all over the floors), the food took an hour to get to us, and when it did it was terrible: overcooked to the point of being inedible, overpriced, and sloppily put together. It was disgusting. One of our servers(there were four in total that were in and out of the patio and restaurant, and we’d flag down whoever was inside when we needed more water, or cutlery, or if we wanted an ETA on our food) told us that they were understaffed on what is probably the busiest day of the summer. Really, really poor planning. Really disappointed with this place. I won’t be visiting again.

I went here for a recent Adobe promoted event. Rex’s have several beers on tap. I personally tried the Hoegarden… served in the correctly branded glass. Service was good, the server came around pretty regularly to ask us if we needed anything. The patio is a decent size as well, with lots of place to move around. The traffic outside the patio is very light… which is definitely a good thing for me, the last thing I need is someone walking by puffing their cigarette while I’m trying to enjoy my plate of ribs. I would definitely go here again.
