Roots – Roots Central

I’m not sure if this Yonge street or the Bloor store are supposed to be the downtown anchor but it doesn’t really matter. Roots has good stuff, they always have. Their prices are decent for the quality of clothing you get from here and their stuff lasts for a long time because the quality is that good.
From time to time they will have licensed clothing for things such as the Olympics, or local sports teams like the Jays or Leafs but that stuff always is at a premium.
The one thing that kind of «bothers» me is that they seem to pander or feed the stereotype of how the world may view Canada with some of the things they sell in the store. Lumberjack shirts and seriously… maple syrup?
Their leather is good stuff I will definitely give them that.

Be careful.
Product quality issues and poor Customer Service when trying to return the product.
Bought a pair of Men’s shorts. After just a few uses it started to fall apart.
Customer Service said that given I live in the US, I could send photos and a copy of the credit card statement. I did that.
Then they said I had to return the product to Roots. Took about 40 minutes to stand in line and then pay for postage at the US post office. Now I have to wait for Roots to decide on my refund.
Have been a loyal shopper at Roots for over 20 years. Now I wonder if I need to shop elsewhere when visiting Canada.
Advice to Roots — sell better quality products and don’t make it difficult for your customers to return defective products that you sold.

Very friendly service here. They have a great selection of products and clothing here. There leather section for jackets is lacking, however they were very kind and are helpful to let you know what other store locations have the product your looking for. They have the best leather purses quality wize which age very well.

Roots was once a brand I admired as a young boy growing up. It was just so freaking cool and those sweatshirts were the bomb! I even put one of those big roots pins on for a school photo! Fast forward 30+ years later and it is no longer to me the brand that wows me. Sure they have high quality items but I find their pricing a bit too insane! I mean who really needs to pay $ 68 for a pair of sweatpants no matter how comfy they may appear to be!
This location in the Eaton Centre is just by the north entrance by Dundas Square and they have a well stocked store of Mens, Women’s and Children’s plus their ubiquitous leather goods. Selection is very plentiful of your cabin wear and lounge wear. Not much of their clothes I can see myself wearing to the office! I believe it’s more cabin wear and lounging around the house? Rarely do they have sale items that are of the sought after, and selection is limited on their discount stuff. Good selection just nothing appealing on my visit!

I’ve never bought anything from Roots but the retail experience seems good. Staff is always friendly and store is well laid out. Last time I was in I looked at a vintage varsity jacket. The salesperson said it $ 600. Maybe next time hahaha…

Roots clothes are very good quality. Their hoodies are super soft! Staff was nice and let us know about everything on sale. They also had a maple scented candle I regret not buying. This would be a nice place to buy Canada themed gifts for family while on vacation, lots of stuff with Canadian flags, the name of the country, and of course adorable beavers :)

Roots had some great deals for Boxing day on their athletic wear. I bought two things without trying them on and unfortunately they fit really strangely– no wonder they were on sale. One of my shirts was too tight on my forearms– I’ve never ever had this problem before. The other shirt was really ridiculously long. So strange.

This business is actually at 220 Yonge Street and it is right next to the Eaton Centre.
I came to Toronto seriously needing a coat and boots upgrade, and Roots met my needs in fine fashion. The quality of the t-​shirts, sweatshirts, leather footwear and wool coats was what attracted me.
The coats especially have that slightly unique Canadian style that I like – and you absolutely cannot find in the United States. These folks KNOW how to design winter clothing. Since I spent over CAN$ 700 here in one visit, you can bet that they have great winter stuff!

Whenever i’m in Canada I always need to buy at least one article of clothing from Roots. To it’s like an upgraded Gap. Prices are kind of high, not as much selection as one would think but for some reason I really like their stuff because it’s comfortable. Can’t explain it really other than the quality of their clothing seems really good.

This is a great store with quality clothing but man is it ever expensive! I usually end up buying something because I know I won’t be back for another year or two but it’s hard to shell out $ 68 for a sweatshirt or $ 40 for a simple T-​shirt. But I will admit that my granddaughter looks adorable in her $ 25 Roots shirt!
Who am I kidding with the complaining? I’ll be back next year with the credit card in hand.

So I’ve been to this Roots store a few times and my only complaint is that for such a big store, there isn’t too much inventory to look at. Not as much selection as I would hope for. Took me too long to find something suitable as gifts and it wasn’t because 1. I don’t know what good looking is or 2. I had my eyes closed.
Anyway, prices are a little high, but I know you’re paying for quality stuff. Go Roots! Get more stuff! The outlet has a better selection.

i heart Roots. it’s weird, because i used to buy this brand back in Korea. people used to be nuts about it. 1996 – 2000 was the top of the Roots popularity. now, not so much.
the quality of clothing and service was what brought me back here over and over again. it’s like an upgrade of Eddie Bauer and American Eagle Outfitters. their color choices of shirts and hoodies are favorable to me. not too bright, not too monochromatic.

Everyone in the US has been to the Gap, right? Well in Canadia, their version of The Gap is Roots.
Quite honestly, I actually prefer Roots over The Gap. Then again, I’m probably biased because my friend was a district manager for the Gap in the UK and she would go on and on about the shabby quality of the clothing at The Gap. But even if she didn’t tell me all that, I would still prefer Roots.
This is the location at the Eaton Centre (and I’m glad that they spell it «Centre» because I prefer using «re» instead of «er» at the end of the word but that’s another story). Since this is at the Eaton Centre, it can get quite crowded. As a result, the store could get chaotic and a bit disorganized because customers would pick up clothing from one section, decide they don’t want it and leave it somewhere else. Damn Americans!
But the employees were always nice and very helpful, and not in that «Can I help you» mode where they have to ask you every 10 seconds.
