My facial waxing went horribly wrong and now I’m scabing and it hurts to open my mouth.
It was my first time ever waxing my face so I didn’t know what to expect or what was expected. After Katy (I think that’s her name) had waxed most of my face, she asked if I was using something. I told her I sporadically use retinol; she said that was bad and continued to wax some parts. I was never told that you can’t wax while on retinol, I was never told it would make a difference. Though I admit that I could have done some research, I went to a reputable place where I expected the staff to be more thorough in finding what service would be dangerous for the client. They are the experts, not me. I compared prices too, this place is quite expensive. I spent like $ 40 (fee + tip) to have my face maybe permanently damaged.
I called and asked if there was something they could do to help or compensate for this; she told me no.
Worst experience ever

Stay away from new talent. I’m shocked that my roots are still showing from mere highlights and since the gal was new she took 3 hours. never again. life is too short.

I use to come here but found it to be a bit dull. I don’t know what it is missing but it just doesn’t have the energy to keep me coming back. I was very happy with the cut, just not the place.

My stylist and colourist, Ori Friedman, has always given me exactly what I imagined and asked of with my hair.
The atmosphere is fun, bright and cheerful.

I saw Diana who gave me a great haircut. I always worry, curly hair, not everyone can handle, but I have to say I am impressed, so I give props to her. I also like the colour/​highlights she gave me, maybe a little too light, but I can live with it. The only downside is that she did not diffuse the hair properly — she only added the attachment and blowdried instead of properly diffusing, so I walked out with a frizzy mess and could not comment on her haircut at that time — but once I washed it, as soon as I got home, I realized it’s a good cut — props for that. Too bad she is located in this dump.
I am shocked at the poor condition this salon is in … on an upscale street in downtown Toronto where there are so many salons to choose from, this place is out of place.
The shampooing area is way in the back squished so tightly that another client having her hair washed had to have her foot rest moved in order for me to walk past her. When not in use, the foot rests are left on the chairs because it’s so narrow.
The tiny bathroom was not cleaned in what appeared to be days — yuck! Don’t want to comment specifically, because, just yuck.
The cutting area has a long dirty white couch — why, why put a white couch in a high traffic salon unless you can keep it looking clean.
The music is way too loud but at least it drowns out what the other stylists are yelling about back and forth to eachother while they are working on clients — my stylist did not partake thankfully.
The atmosphere just appears dirty — had it been located in a less expensive area of the city, I may have given it higher marks, but when you visit Yorkville, the expectations are high to begin with.
