This is one of the better Shoppers Drug Marts out there, and is my favourite out of the four that are local. Its a large store, consisting of the pharmacy, electronics(photography, gaming/wii, DVDs, etc), grocery, cosmetics and all of those in-between things. Their electronics/photography section is something that needs a lot of work on to actually be functional. Although ironically, its this department which has made this Shoppers my fave. Every time I’ve visited, one of the cashiers has had to call someone out from the back to work behind that counter. And the average wait time is about twenty minutes… I seem to be particularly unlucky and always show up when their electorincs guru of the day is «on break». The cool thing about this dept is that their cameras and wii accessories are well priced, and I’ve been able to use my Optimum points towards those purchases. Hello free Sony Cyber-shot digital with 7.2 megapixels. ;) This Shoppers also has a respectable clearance section; I’ve picked up quite a few items that were a fraction of regular costs. Such as my beloved foot warmers(microwaveable slippers); I had bought them on clearance price of $ 15, meanwhile they were still being sold at regular price at other Shoppers for over $ 30. Though some of their employees could do with a refresher course on customer satisfaction, the products themselves and costs are mostly worth the hassle.

Got a bit jerked around at this Shoppers Drug Mart in an effort to get some passport photos taken. While the store itself is open from 8AM to Midnight daily, the photo counter was only open from 10 to 10; good in theory, since I was there around 10:30 in the morning. But, in practice, it was definitely no good, since no one was there; after asking at the cosmetics counter, I was told that the photo person wasn’t going to be in until noon. Grrr. So, I went and got other stuff done, and came back a little after 1PM. I went up to the photo counter, and, upon asking for passport photos, got an apologetic look, and was told that they couldn’t do passport photos since their flash bulb was broken. But don’t worry, it’s on order! But you gotta ask, why not carry a spare? And at least why not put up a sign so that people who come in when the photo counter isn’t manned find out there are no photos to be had and don’t come back for nothing?
