South St. Burger

Just ordered delivery from South Street Burgers, Yorkville… worst service ever… did not deliver within the promised time, and when I called, the manager told me the food had been waiting for over half an hour for the delivery person, who was late.
I asked NOT to be sent the food that had been sitting around… she asked if she could call me back, but before she did (15 minutes later), the food magically arrived (I live about 5 minutes away), my credit card charged… stone cold, greasy. When I called her to say I’d never order from them again, her answer: okay. No apology. Terrible, terrible service.

I didn’t like it as much today. I swear they changed their recipe. It wasn’t the same as the first time I went. And my fries were NOT freshly made.

This place is a part of a chain that is popping up all over Toronto. Overall the burgers are good, I like that it is licensed and the poutine is great. There are a few downsides:
The place is lit like a Harvey’s. There is a really cool south street on King east that has a much nicer feel that they should try to do work on. This one feels like you are getting interrogated the lights are so bright.
The price is quite high. Once again that wouldn’t be a huge issue if it didn’t feel like you were at a cheap chain. Who knows might even get a beer if I didn’t feel like I was eating in a WalMart.
Overall the burger is good but the atmosphere lacking.

This was my first time visiting any of the South St. Burger locations, and I was very impressed. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was great! I had a 6oz burger with cheddar, and my friend got a «True North», which he swears by. He says he gets it every single time he goes to a South St. because he loves it that much! I thought my burger was very good. Cooked perfectly and so juicy! We also split a NY Fries together — always delicious. And just to make it a perfect meal, we each had a beer :-) Everything was perfect, although the price is a little on the high side, but I guess you get what you pay for, and I’d have to say it was worth it. The coupon we had also helped… Lol. I will definitely be visiting again!
