I feel compelled to write a review following my awful experience at this store. While trying on a pair of shoes a customer called in and requested to buy the ones I was trying on. Instead of the owner telling the customer that he would call her back he said I had to decide right now if I want them or another customer would buy them over the phone. When I asked for a minute to decide, he began to furiously try and get the customer on the phone’s credit card information and make the sale. «Get the credit card number and put the sale through» he said repeatedly to the salesman. After showing desperation to make a sale to the quickest person to whip out their credit card I felt disrespected as the shoes were still on my feet. Even with the unnecessary urgency and pressure he put on me I decided I would still give him the business as the salesman apologized for his rude boss. After making the purchase the owner finally came out of the backroom and I requested an apology for the way I was treated in his store. The owner looked at my teary eyes and refused to apologize and said«you couldn’t make up your mind fast enough». No apology, no appreciation for the business I just gave him and no sign of human decency to a young woman he made cry in his store. I will never go back and urge others to shop at stores that carry all of the same shoes such as; George C, Holt Renfrew, The Room, Browns, TNT, or Intermix.

The shoes here really are exceptional. All finely crafted, no «big names» just for the sake of «big names» and the house brand makes excellent staples. The service is always mediocre if you aren’t carrying a small dog, but aloof is better than pestering so I am ok to call it even on CS front. There is no pair of shoes/boots I have from here that have disappointed me. Worth every(many) cent(s).

Cocaine, Meth, Crack… not my cup of tea as my drug of choice has always been expensive shoes dammit. One place that could easily push me to O.D. is Specchio. I’ve only had the pleasure to visit Specchio during sales season as the prices are within the mid to low 3 digits range versus the usual four figures for regular priced shoes. Yep, Coke has nothing on $hoe addiction$ The shop is literally like a glass shoe box as it’s compact interior design and to the point displays are purely a blank canvas that lets the stunning shoes do all the talking. What’s more their selections are well edited so you probably won’t find these styles of shoes in other boutiques. Some noteworthy brands Specchio carry include; Barbara Bui, very Parisian streetwise chic, Giuseppe Zanotti(love him) who in my opinion is the the czar of sexy shoe design, Dries Van Noten the die hard fashion enthusiast’s choice and Cesare Paciotti rock’n’ fucking roll trust fund style. Also their selection of handbags is pretty fantastic too! Not to sound all enabler or anything but… if you’re finding that Aldo, is NOT fixing your high, then step it up a($BIG) notch and walk with wicked style in Specchio shoes

The most ‘curated’ shoe store in town(regularly featuring Margiela, Marni, Dries van Noten, Costume National). Check out the end of season sales. I have scored multiple pairs of Dries van Notens here for a fraction of the cost.

Compared to the more extensive shoe selections neighbouring these parts, Specchio is but a mere shoebox in size. That said, they have an excellent eye. Everything here is worth its weight in gold(nearly). It’s the only other store in Canada that I know to carry these wonderfully strapped and multi-coloured Dries Van Noten shoes. Oh… I kind of feel like crying a bit.
