Sugar Mountain Confectionery

I always love going here. It’s a candy store that has I think what is every Jelly Belly jelly bean individual flavor. I always get the Banana, Kiwi and Coconut. I find things like Sprees that I can’t get in the States. They have older candy as well. Cost is pretty good but I end up spending $ 7 on two scoops of jelly beans… oh well, it’s Easter time!

Great location at Yonge and Wellesley. As usual they store is clean spacious and well stocked. I love the classic 1970’s TV posters, it’s like a flashback to my childhood.
The sandy is sorted in about 3 to 4 different sections, take time and browse. Treat yourself.

Prices are so so. Selecion is great. The store is clean. The staff are ok.

A candy store close to my house? This is very BAD. Well, for me, not for them. I’m a candy junkie. I can’t live without sugary sweets haha.
The space is very open with a moderate amount of different brands to choose from. I feel like they have too many PEZs and not enough international candy.
That being said, I come in for a particular brand of candy, and am always happy whenever they have it!
This place is heaven if you’re into candy!

This is a great place to buy hard-​to-​find candy but don’t waste your money buying more familiar stuff here.
The bulk candy is always fresh, the bins are clean. Here, though, you can find the same offerings as at the nearby Bulk Barn (Yonge/​College), but for over twice the price — let’s compare big feet ($ 2.00÷100 grams at Sugar Mountain; 97 cents/​100 grams at Bulk Barn), for example. The stuff that you don’t see everywhere (good chocolate selection, some licorice stuff) is worth it. The staff is nice and the place is über air-​conditioned and open late — all pluses for a treat on a hot summer day.

*Warning cultural differences are glaringly obvious here, as I grew up n the UK and while we may have had much of the same/​similar candy… I know it by a different name.
My inner child applauded with glee when I entered this store. Cute, bright colors and a ma-​hoo-​sive selection of treats.
You can try before you buy… why oh why lovely shop lady did you tell me that!!! I seriously felt like I was in Wonka’s chocolate factory… only nothing bad was going to happen to me for samplng the goods (well only to my wallet and diet!).
Ex-​pat? Missing some of your native sweets and candy? This is definitely a place to go as they stock Austrailian/​US/​British candy/​sweets.
I seemed to spend forever in this shop, the assistant was extremely helpful and was able to advise me on candy’s to try according to what I liked. I had some amazing blueberry chocolate balls. Razzles, popping candy, puff candy (I think it is also known as honey comb… you know the centre of a crunchie bar), candy cigarettes, galaxy chocolate bars and so much more. (I think galaxy chocolate bars are the British equivilant of the dove chocolate bar).

I have a fairly persistent sweet tooth. And Sugar Mountain happens to be five or so minutes from my house, which means I have to exercise my self-​control more often than usual. For a meager 2 cents/​gram you can load up on a whole bunch of classic favourites and obscurities, or buy packaged candy from the front of the store. They have Jelly Belly in lots of flavours, and my personal favourites — lots of diffferent kinds of licorice, including stranger ones, often imported from the Netherlands, like Double (and crazy Triple) Salted. The store is a neon trove of odd character Pez dispensers, pop culture lunchboxes, Elvis paraphernalia and other such bright childhood trinkets.
I’m pretty sure that the Bulk Mine up the street a ways has a wider selection in general (and more imported British things and snacks and so on…) but I like the central location and quality of what’s available at Sugar Mountain.

I bought some candy the other day but most of it was stale so I took it back and will not go there again and since I had eaten some of it I really didn’t ask for my money back but advised them they should get rid of the bin because it is stale but who knows if they will do that

Clean and bright, great assortment and a knowledgeable sales clerk. Nice!

At 2 cents a gram, you can’t go wrong with a bulk of candy (any variation, combination or brand) which ROCKS!
However the inside of the store — is soooo sterile and bright — it kinda makes it unfun or just plain weird.

At the entrance, the walls are mounted with pez candy dispensers and refills featuring Disney, cartoon characters, and even a limited Elvis Presley! And hard to sought items like Razzles (remember 13 going 30?), Pop Rocks, Sugar Daddy Candy, Candy Stix Cigarettes… memories, memories…
I quickly scoop the different flavors of Jelly Belly: popcorn, Juicy pear (my fav), Smoothie Blend, Soda Pop, Peach, Green Apple, Orange Sherbet, Orange Crush, Blueberry, Piña Colada, Lemon Drop, Mango… let’s just say I went on a Jelly Belly Splurge… the aftermath, 2 pds. of sugary goodness. My husband brought a few cola sours, mix of chocolates, licorices (def not for me), sour worms, gummi bears…
I say we did pretty good for $ 20, we got ourselves some sweet treats for our drive in town.
There were also some collectibles and vintage lunch boxes that are out of print. It’s a pretty rare find in this town. I would def love to come back again!

Started as the brain child of serial entrepreneur Sean McCaan in the early 90’s Sugar Mountain has oft been associated with the sugary indulgences of Torontonians for almost 15 years. The winning combination of eclectic 80’s synth pop, Simpson’s Pez dispensers and the candy of yore have transported this local Confectionery company to a national level. With locations in Ottawa, Winnipeg, Waterloo and Vancouver in addition to the flagship Richmond St. location, you can expect a sweet reception at any Sugar Mountain.
I recommend the Curly Wurly, Pink Elephant Popcorn and Pickle Puss Bubble Gum, to name but a few.
Little known fact: Big Feet candy continue to be the number one produced and consumed candy in Canada.

If you are a candy lover and have not been to Sugar Mountain, you are seriously missing out.
This place is a dream when it comes to finding the best candy, the sweetest gummies, the most decadent chocolate and the pull-​out-​your-​teeth-​yet amazing fudge and taffy.
Sugar Mountain sells famous candy brands that you really cannot find on the generic candy shelves at the grocery store or Shoppers.
Here are some examples:

— HUGE Sour Keys
— Chupa Shups Lollipops in every possible flavour ever made
I could go on for hours with listing off the best and most amazing candy selections!
If you go «bulk barn» style at Sugar Mountain and take different candies in the plastic bags and purchase them according to their weight, the price will not be bad.
It only gets pricey once you buy the candy that is pre-​packaged and rare to find in other stores around the city.
Overall, it is a place that really represents the saying «Sugar and spice is always nice!»
