Meet the Business Owner

John Sinopoli M.

Business Owner

John attended the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan and went on to work at La Caravelle, where he was part of the team that earned the restaurant a three star review in the New York Times.

He moved on to Craft, Tom Collichio’s Gramercy Tavern in the heart of the Flat Iron district. At Craft, John developed the successful business practices and demand for quality that won the restaurant the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in the United States.

After three years in New York, John returned to Toronto where under Chef/Owner David Lee at Splendido he helped develop sophisticated tasting menus.

Mr. Sinopoli was later presented with the opportunity to head the kitchen for Izakaya with owner/partner Erik Joyal where he developed a style of cuisine indicative of his culinary adventures in Japan.

June of 2008 brought John home to his roots as Executive Chef/Partner at Table 17 creating seasonal driven Southern European menus for the exceptional wine bar and bistro.
